Christie is out of office and not actually running again (his Presidential ambitions are laughable), so he is not a Profile in Courage, either. He has nothing to lose, like almost every other public non-Trumper Republican.
They don't need him as they ran their own "time for some traffic problems" routine to shut down the city. Chris would just be in the way and would eat all the meat loaf.
Christie may be a craven, spiteful political opportunist who's more bluster than man, but he's also not stupid. He knows which way the wind is blowing, and he'd rather not end up as a footnote in a book showing he played a fairly substantive role in bringing our political discourse to where it is now.Hope ya like swimming, you filthy rat. The next ship'll probably sink too.
We've seen this pattern before--Republicans speaking out against Trump, liberals wondering "is this the end for Trump?", Republicans backtrack, rinse and repeat. Here's my not so bold predictions:1) Trump will not be indicted.2) Trump will be his party's 2024 presidential nominee.3) With few exceptions, every one of these "dissident Republicans" (Christie, Graham, Pence) will vocally back Trump's re-election.4) Trump will enter the general election with a floor of about 46% of the vote.5) Democrats had better be ready for that campaign.
However fundamental the challenge, however dire the threat to your nation, however vast the gulf between doing the right thing, and letting the horrific happen (or even assisting it), there will always be some who pick sides purely on the basis of a wet finger held in the wind, and how they can get themselves some kinda gig out of it.
Putin chose Pence for him, via Manafort. I'm sure it's because Pooty knew what you said - that Pence was such a nothingburger none of the rest of the GQP would have backed him if he'd tried to get Poot's puppet 25th-amendmented.
His departure wouldn't have had to be "hasty" if the entire GQP hadn't risen up as one and proclaimed that we needed to just give him time to "process" his loss, which he used to gin up a coup, which left him only 14 days to pack. Besides, you don't just scoop up items that belong to the nation but stay in the WH and documents that could incriminate you in the fucking criminal conspiracy you created. You scoop up your socks and the photos of your kids and your wife's 19 boxes of beauty products and you get the fuck out of the place so it can be cleaned and aired before the real president arrives. He was stealing shit in the hopes of displaying it in his trash palaces. I guarantee you there's going to be some things in those boxes that belonged to former presidents that he just decided were his now.
Putin sure knows how to weaponize stupidity.
See?
I like that Bruce Springsteen keeps taking his money and refuses to acknowledge Christie as anything bu a useless, horrible shitbag
Low blow! Too soon!
Which counts as heroics for Republicans…

And 24-hour “news” teevee. And plutocrat controlled “news” outlets.

It's like "improperly" withdrawing money from a bank.
Oh, I don't care, either. But that's my point. It has nothing to do with who he is - a privileged, nasty human.
I KNOW! I wasn't a huge Springsteen fan growing up, but I've really come to enjoy and respect him.
