The big difference between an MFA in fiction writing and an M.Div in theology is one of them comes with a job.

How many people mumble it from the church bulletin every Sunday without a clue as to what it actually means?

The problem that Erik the Dickhead is having with convincing people to be morally outraged by the heretic leading the inaugural prayer is the same one most libels have: the issue is too complicated for the average RWNJ to give a fuck about. Since it doesn't make a nice neat meme for them to hold in their hate-filled hearts.

That picture of Donald Sutherland in the final scene of Invasion of the Body Snatchers is the PERFECT accompaniment to this story.

skeet shooting is fun and definitely improves your skills at shooting moving targets. if you've fired a rifle, a shotgun isn't that much different; the recoil is about the same.

semiauto pistol are prettier but revolver do the job and WILL NEVER FAIL you.

Good God, but this is going to be an interesting, (and terrifying), four years!

I can't believe this guy is, or ever was, taken seriously. He's the very essence of Basement Dweller. He seems to splutter his words. I'm not surprised he uses a dark camera. He probably gets a little spit ring on his mouth when he talks.

Yeah, the majority are. But I wanted to say "predestination" and TX (lots of methodists anyway) works better than "NE tip of West Virginia". NB: the Catholics rule the South of TX anyway.

Point being, "Oh, you're Protestant, cause Jebus but not the Pope, blah blah? Oh, you mean because your parents and neighbors are Protestant."

I can! :P

A fascinating aside: The Nicene is where we get the phrase 'I dont give one iota' from. The difference between the greek words for 'same as god' and 'similar to god' was an iota. The Emperor was said to have been frustrated by the clergy arguing over the small difference and said the phrase in question. It lead to the split between the Roman Catholics and the Greek Orthodox. I've always thought that "one in being with the Father" was one awkward translation quirk...

I was referring to the Donatist heresy that priests must themselves be without flaws to be worthy of serving their flock.

Interesting. I was referring to the Donatist heresy that all martyrdom wins heaven, even suicidal martyrdom, which prompted St. Augustine to tap into Greek stoicism in order to stem the flow of Donatists into the hereafter.
