He also was going to send mine sweepers to the Gulf of Hormuz, but all the minesweepers are in California undergoing repair or retrofitting so they're not available for the Strait of Hormuz mines from Iran. Good planning!

If that ship is headed into the setting or rising sun, it’s not going to Greenland.

simpledinosaur's avatar

These are people who believe in stuff like "trickle-down economics," so sure, imaginary medical boats could work wonders for Greenlanders, whom, of course, we know desperately want to become citizens of our 51st state because we all get gloriously free health care here in America.

Mexfiles's avatar

Apparently, Greenland does have some trouble getting medical attention to isolated Inuit communities, but there's an easy fix for that:

Didn't any of the MSMs mention that both US hospital ships were in dry dock in Alabama being repaired and couldn't have gone to Greenland if they'd wanted to?

Every day I read a little less news than the day before. How ignorant do I have to be before the bliss sets in?

Daniel O'Riordan's avatar

I got some bad news for you. The most ignorant imbeciles on the planet are Fox News viewers, and I would not describe them as blissful.

simpledinosaur's avatar

That is blissfully true. Someone once said that when right-wingers lose an election, they're angry, and when they WIN an election, they get even angrier. That's just the way these idiots are. Full of misinformation/disinformation and not shy about spewing it around.

HeyMom's avatar

Friend, I feel this down to my bones.

I alternate imaginings of blissful ignorance with urges to lay about me with a near-fatal strikes from rat-tail, rolled up dish towel. That baby leaves a satisfying welt!

eddi-SABH's avatar

These people are idiots.

Lynn Veit's avatar

True. I don't think the English language has words to denote just how thoroughly and enthusiastically idiotic they are. The vast expanse of their blithering ignorance is jaw-dropping.

eddi-SABH's avatar

I sat there for several minutes trying to expand on my first thought. Words literally failed me. But I had to say it. Thank you.

John Cornyn ready to blow up the senate: "I spent years defending the filibuster because the 60-vote threshold was a net benefit to Texas and our nation," he wrote. "Before moderate Democrats went extinct, the rules worked. ... The Democrats’ recklessness and radicalism have changed the landscape." Cool story bro, now explain what's not radical about your party's president paying himself billions from the treasury, starting wars in the Middle East without congressional authorization while destroying scientific research and health care in this country. Oh, and prosecuting his critics, that too!

Have you seen what's in thst bill?

EVERYONE would be required to re-register even if they are ALREADY REGISTERED.

And that's not even the worst of it.

I'm guessing they want to eff up and confuse the whole elections process to the point where whatever idiotic trash they spew about the results will fly. The entire affair will, if they can swing it, be so confused and confusing that it will be impossible to get any traction to prove the results false. The elections will take place, but they won't matter and the House and Senate Republicans will refuse to cede power. I think that's the plan. It may not work, but I believe it's what they mean to do.

"M"'s avatar

Okay, so ...

I'm going to guess you're not a woman - so you might not have an idea as to the extent to which such "confusion" would disenfranchise literal milllions of women who are

- married

- unable to put hands on a passport or "original" birth certificate

- have surnames that don't match for whatever reason on either of those documents

More than that, though -- if you've read anything Jenny wrote at the links I left, you'll know that according to that draconian mess that calls itself an "Act" that EVERYONE IN THE COUNTRY would be required to re-register, male or female, single or married ... and subject to the same types of document restrictions -- like if you're an actor working under a stage name so you're not confused with another actor under union rules.

In case you haven't guessed yet just from this -- the "legislation" (I have another word for it, but I'm trying to stay cheery, since it's early) is DESIGNED to deliberately disenfranchise people, whether citizens or not, if these Confederates don't want those people to vote ... and they *don't care* whether it also disenfranchises millions of their own voters (if you refer to the relevant fascist literature, and I'm not even kidding about that, they refer to these people as "collateral damage").

But beyond that, and one of the reasons it's easy to spot that it's designed to disenfranchise people if you're familiar with the relevant legislation, is that the so-called "problem" they pretend to be trying to address was already taken care of in legislation that's already 30 years old.

The Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 was passed so no undocumented immigrant has risked that FELONY in 30 years & the only people caught voting illegally in the most recent federal elections since Donald came to power have almost all been Republicans.

The only one I remember being a registered Democrat was Crystal Thomas in Texas, and she made a mistake. And they not only subjected her to a 5-year prison sentence for it -- they ran it in every right wing "media outlet" they could find, and they did that for weeks for propaganda purposes.

The SAVE Act has literally no legitimate legislative purpose. It's designed only to disenfranchise people whom these Confederates do not want to be able to vote.

Do you remember when Krispy Noem gave the game away and said "we want to make sure only the right people are voting" *out loud at a mic behind a podium*?

simpledinosaur's avatar

I think you may have misread my post. My whole point was exactly that the leg. is designed to disenfranchise millions of voters in a number of ways.

In general, the American people are quite dense. The MrKKKn people, on the other hand, are more dense than a neutron star.

This is why the Repugs have been defunding and dumbing down public schools for decades. The net result being a segment of poorly educated dimwits who have mostly failed in life or ended up in dead-end jobs who are bitter and angry and who will believe anything they hear.

I like the idea for corporate media to report blatant lies that would make the felonpotus look masterful and cognizant. The media already reports his deranged nonsense as if they are policy points to discuss. Go a step further and give him puffed up accolades laced with heavy sarcasm that right-wingers can't decipher anyways. Felonpotus wins two Nobel Prizes - Peace and Economics! He ended the Iran war by giving Israel Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan. The Saudis love the pedopotus so much they're re-naming Saudi Arabia Trumpistan. Oil is no longer a thing because there's none left, and we don't need it anyway.

Saudi Arabia can't be renamed Trumpistan. That will eventually be the new name for Usanistan, whose current head of state is a Usanus.

PDP's avatar

What's particularly funny about Trump and the hospital ship that wasn't, is it started because a USA member of crew (on a sub in Greenland's waters IIRC) was ill, but both US hospital ships were in for repairs. The Greenlanders just airlifted him to a hospital. Someone tried explaining this to Trump, but Donny Bewilderpants got the wrong end of the stick. And now so has some other idiot. Should this man be in charge of a war (or indeed a lemonade stand)?

Lynn Veit's avatar

You kidding? He shouldn't even be in charge of dressing himself in the morning.

Nemo's avatar

Donny always pokes his stick in the wrong end. That's why Ivana divorced him.

Allenby's avatar

I thought the two hospital ships were in drydock?

Daniel O'Riordan's avatar

If that was important, don't you think the asshole up top would have mentioned that.

Obviously, it's not relevant.

𝄞You say

The price of my love’s not a price that you’re willing to pay.

You cry

In your oil which you hurl in the sea when you see me go by.

Why so sad?

Remember we made an arrangement when I went away.

Now you’re making me mad.

Remember, despite our estrangement, I’m your man.

I'll be back.

Soon you’ll see.

You’ll remember you belong to me.

I'll be back.

Time will tell.

You’ll remember that I served you well.

Oceans rise.

Empires fall.

We have seen each other through it all,

And when push

Comes to shove,

I will send a fully armed battalion

To remind you of my love!

Trump and his supporters are practically at the George Santos level of fabrication, especially around this war. I think maybe its starting to be a turn-off.

Lynn Veit's avatar

Does the term "pathological liar" apply here? Because this level of fabrication is so absurd and extreme I wonder if it's due to faulty brain wiring or some malformed neural synapses...I mean surely they couldn't possibly expect people to believe this level of wild, outlandish nonsense unless they just don't have the capacity to think it through that far?

But MAGAts believe it anyway, and reinforce their absurd mendacity. Yeesh, what a mess.
