I dunno, I'm a NYer who likes the Jersey shore (the actual place, that is), who finds this extremely ephemeral tempest in a teapot to be a mild amusing distraction from the searing pain and grief that is still present throughout the area. People there are tough as nails, but even so this still hurts real bad. The opportunity to take a few moments to laff every now and then helps, even if the opportunity itself is pretty insipid. At present, any stupid excuse for levity is good enough. Jerseyans are doing their best to keep a brave face, but don't be fooled; the grief is still quite raw and is right there just below the surface.
Regardless of what you think of his politics and his party, you cannot deny that Christie has shown real leadership during this crisis.
