Hell, I work as a receptionist, and some of the customers think they have a personal relationship with specific people here. There’s a lady in Accounts Receivable I occasionally have to claim isn’t in the office, because otherwise customers will insist on speaking to her face-to-face because they don’t like anybody else in her department.
I’m just glad none of them seem to have fixated on me, knock on wood.
27 years ago when we moved to Iowa, Pioneer Seed was touting their research into corn that had a shorter growing season. That way, when warming changed the growing season in Iowa (160 days) to match MS (205 days), it might be possible to get two harvests/year. But north-central Iowa has been under drought conditions for several years and corn needs a lot of water. Oops!
My parents did the 'Ride Across Iowa' thing back when. They loved the friendly vibe they got from everybody (me, being cynical, thinking that yeah, you're spending your $$$ here) but this seems to be showing the true face of Iowuh.
Tell them it's a Democratic Republic.
Chedder Rapids? That's funny, and tastes better than Cedar.

It's Iowa - one should probably have both anyhow.
My relatives in Iowa farm. Weather is crucial. They want accuracy, not sucking up to the science deniers.
In Florida one wrong forecast could mean multiple deaths.

This is why I do NOT watch tv/cable news and listen to CBC and BBC and such instead.
And... it's happening in floriduh right NOW.
All I know is that all three have thought about eating me at one time or another.
(I was a wildlife biologist in AK)
Hell, they don't even know what 'ambiguity' means....
When we moved to our present location, located basically in the woods, our cats decided to bag a deer.
Said deer licked one of their noses.
But funnier than heck to see a cat crouch low and creep up on the "unsuspecting" prey!
Animal optimism. I LOVE it!
Nailed it.
