In all the time that he has been in California politics, I guarantee that the details of how many trans athletes there are and how hormones work, etc., etc., have been explained to him ad nauseum. “Politically Expedient” is his middle name. I have no doubt in my mind that he would throw the rest of the queer community under the bus if the winds blew that way. Once upon a time I really liked him, but now I do not trust him. I hope we can find someone better to run for president in ‘28.

For journalism in the US, you still have ProPublica. But they don't do a comprehensive "here's everything important that happened today" service, just good investigations into vital topics. For global news, a combination of AP, The Guardian, the BBC, AFP/France24 and DW can work.

Is turning to other global northern English language media going to give you a true world-view? Assume all media is biased in one way or another and shop around. If you're totally monolingual there are subtitles on youtube videos.
As an old person with cataracts it gets hard to read subtitles. I've also found many subtitles just say speaking foreign language. I do look at several sources for news. The Telesur looks interesting I have it bookmarked now thank you.
