As if there were any question that Colin Powell was a RINO, which is to say, a liberal, which is to say a Godless Communist who should be deported, the former Secretary of State and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff spoke last week in favor of universal healthcare
I heard during a Grand Rounds presentation by a physician expert in health care finance at the University of Nebraska Medical Center that 30% of health care costs in the US go to pay for the legions of administrators and minions employed by hospitals and insurance companies to fight over whether a specific patient or procedure is covered. Job creators!!
it's funny- the boss was looking at new plans, trying to find one that didn't bend us all over so badly as our current one does, so I made a wisecrack (imagine that, me saying something smartass) about how we should drop the employer provided plan and all go on the exchange. Turns out we all will save a boatload of money. The ones I'm looking at are all cheaper than the half I paid towards the group plan and the boss is going to continue to compensate me for what used to be his half so it's a win-win for everyone but the GOP assholes
in all fairness, he was speaking in favor of some sort of single payer or at least his support for the then still being formulated ACA as far back as 2009, from my personal experience. I'm not sure why this is suddenly newsworthy
because the leverage that having an employee beholden to them for their heath insurance was worth more. Before the pre existing conditions clause was eliminated, it meant that an employer had his middle aged or older employees by the short hairs The fact that many employers had already sloughed off much of the financial burden of the insurance policies onto the employees gave them that leverage at a relatively cheap price. It didn't really help small businesses, but they aren't the ones buying influence in Washington
it was the least I could do
Fear and Loathing in Obamacare
Wait until the wingnuts find out he supports same sex marriage
Right . . . you probably also believe in taking facts into consideration. Typical reality-b(i)ased commie socialist.
He vus only followink orders.
Sgt Bilko finds religion pretty late in the game. Thanks for manning the barricades.

maybe if their outstretched hand didn't always seem to have a noose in it

"A young man destined to be saddled with serious anger issues named Suh"
not only are the wingtards idiots, but they are way late to the party. Powell has used this bit in his keynote speech at corporate events for years
One time, my airplane seatmate was a retired navy admiral. Does that mean he has to buy my Dramamine?
