The anti-vaxxers will say, for a dead cert, "Colin Powell was vaccinated. He died of Covid-19. Therefore vaccinations are a big scam and don't work. The vaccine is probably what really killed him."They will not mention that he was 84.They will not mention that he had cancer.

I hope he rests in hell. He was a liar and a warmonger and that you didn’t even mention My Lai, Stephen, saddens me greatly. He was no hero, and certainly no role model.

Powell was the chairman ofbtge Joint Cheifs. If he had questions, he could get the best possible answers.

If he didn't have questions, he was a godsdamned idiot.

I knew his UN speach was lies & nonsense and I only read the newspaper. He had top level security clearances and ALL the information. He chose to ignore what was happening.

Powell was an ass-sucking POS from the word go. If he had any self-respect he would have stayed away Bush and Cheney. As for Obama, imo he's a POS as well. Yeah Barack, who said the day he took office the Ameican military was out of Afghanistan and Iraq. Like that fucking happened. Fuck both of those assholes.

What exactly did he do for the coverup?

And rightfully so. She feared he might be assassinated -- and Cheney had already used him as a field hand putting up his fake Iraq "intelligence" so he could make a mint at Halliburton. Would Cheney stand in the way of a bullet meant for Powell?

He got his "intelligence" from Cheney. Cheney never took the mic. Cheney's Halliburton also made a hot fortune off that war.

If you didn't read the part of Steven's piece that points out not just what happened here, but why he didn't have the privilege to push back that a White person like you might have. then here it is again:

The Iraq War arguably remains Powell's greatest single mistake. It's certainly why leftists on social media are especially gross about Powell's death today. Iraq wasn't Powell's idea, but the war's chief architects, President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, saw everything Powell had built during his professional career as their own collateral to spend."We've really got to make the case" against Hussein, Bush told Powell in an Oval Office meeting in late January, "and I want you to make it." Only Powell had the "credibility to do this," Bush said. "Maybe they'll believe you." It was a direct order from his commander in chief, and it never occurred to Powell to question it.Cheney reportedly told Powell before the infamous UN speech, "You've got high poll ratings; you can afford to lose a few points."

Chimp Bush gave him an order. Darth Cheney threw him under the bus.

And you blame General Powell alone.

That risk is always worse for a Black person in this country, and I can't believe how often someone has to remind White people of this here.

Last month I had to remind someone blame blame blaming President Obama for "not getting more done" that he had an entire more than half-Congress full of White racist obstructionist Republicans standing in his way.

Same thing here. Exact same thing. And if you don't see the common thread between the incidents you're doing that age old Confederate tactic of scapegoating Black people for White people's misdeeds (it's not like he got out there by himself with those ideas! It's not as if he came up with those ideas! You're going to dump all over the general and not even mention the two people who not only came up with the idea, but reaped all the rewards??) and since 1860 what that shows is yet another White person who doesn't know - and hasn't learned - quite as much as s/he thinks s/he has about this here AmeriKKKa we're all still living in.

He received a report of the massacre, then wrote a report for the upper levels that there was nothing to see there, no massacre, not worth investigating.

No he didn't. Not even by your own wiki cut and paste.

He was tasked with investigating a letter to the command about something else written by someone with no direct knowledge of My Lia.

According to your own source it had nothing to do with My Lia.

Cheney, Dubya, and many white men like them, built their careers on heaped up piles of brown bodies.

So did Colin Powell, who was black. I don't accept the idea that he was simply a pawn of white men's ambitions, or that him being the first black anything excuses that he was content to let so many die who were innocent, powerless and brown. He had agency. He made bad choices freely. He can defend them to his maker if he's talking to him now.

The rest of us can look at better people who were also black and think, they made good choices which didn't lead to death and destruction and the propping up of a regime which held him in contempt for his race and for his service to them.

“We burned down the thatched huts, starting the blaze with Ronson and Zippo lighters,” Powell recalled. “Why were we torching houses and destroying crops? Ho Chi Minh had said the people were like the sea in which his guerrillas swam…

“We tried to solve the problem by making the whole sea uninhabitable. In the hard logic of war, what difference did it make if you shot your enemy or starved him to death?”

^ Leftist social media shitposting about Colin Powell, as alluded to above? Nope, that would be Colin Powell's motivations for burning the homes and livelihoods of Vietnamese civilians to the ground as told by, uh, Colin Powell. In his autobiography. *And that doesn't even cover Mai Lai.*

I'm not really sure why I'm reading a retconning of Colin Powell here of all places, but if you assume that he needed Bushes Sr. and Jr. and Cheney to mislead him into endorsing inhuman cruelty, you assume wrongly.
