There are states that will expunge your criminal record, if what you were convicted of is no longer a crime. I don't know if CO is one of those states.

There should be no taxes on prescription medications, in any state. That needs to be fixed.

Obama should be there to cut the ribbon - just to fuck with the patriot preppers' heads.

That makes perfect sense. If alcohol had a medical use, you'd be able to buy it tax-free with an Rx. As a chemical solvent, pure ethanol is tax-free to academic research labs, and carries only regular sales tax when commercial labs buy it. (You do have to police it a bit: a 5-gallon can of what is effectively 200-proof top-shelf vodka is going to tempt people.)

Keeps 'em off the voting rolls, too - which is one reason Rethuglicans don't want to decriminalize anything that incarcerates the blahs.

100% agree, but I also don't mind paying sales tax, just not ADDED taxes because it makes you feel better

More like 30 billion pieces, Gov., but hey - it's a classic Texas bullshit soundbite. We all know you'll fuck over the public if it puts money in YOUR pockets.

Bottle of scotch, pack of ciggies - all the same thing: a "sin tax" that's easy to get past most politicians.

Oh bullshit. You want to complain about the stupidity of US drug laws historically? Knock yourself out- I doubt you'll get any argument here. But the idea that the US finally taking steps towards sanity in that regard is somehow a bad thing is where you go right off the rails. WTF monoculture agriculture has to do with this is beyond me. The MJ trade will likely stay a relatively small, boutique industry like it is, it's not corn or soybeans, dude. Think artisanal craft beers. And it isn't MJ sales here that kill Mexican farmers, it's drug lords there with the acquiescence of corrupt Mexican politicians. There was room to blame the US back when they fought that war on drugs and drove the trade underground where the violence and criminality percolate up, but the idea that legalizing MJ causes people to die is pure idiocy.
