They are the Devil's favorite Christians.

The Christian flag was designed by their fellow travelers; the No-Fun Fundemental cases. It supports States Rights including uncivil rights and gay bashing. Not to mention more traditional things like Jew-baiting and Catholic rail-riding.

Their total ignorance of reality.

They had the slaves all dressed up and ready to charge the next artillery position, then Lee said "Fuck it!" and surrendered. Nobody shot at them until after the war.

And Gatling and Henry put the exclamation point after 'chivalry is dead' in a way nobody but the armies of Europe could ignore. In the US Cavalry afterward, a horse was transport more than a weapon platform.

And would have sent Sherman in to finish the job. We would be talking about the Ozark Desert if that had happened.

I'm pretty sure given the back butt and the front butt whatever that is...it's something to be certain.

As one of our deleted commenters informed us the other day, they totally didn't lose.

I know. We're all still trying to figure that one out.

Speaking of which, I read my very favorite description of the Confederacy today, a quote from the British Consul in Charleston during the Recent Unpleasantness. He called it a "dirty little abortion of an imperium." This may not be the best heritage to cling to indefinitely – and I say that as the descendant of eight great great grandfathers who signed up to fight for the fabulous state of South Carolina. (One of them died before he could fight, though, and another one stayed home to "take care of the ladies.")

I like how they have to explain that peaceful means a lack of violence.
