I can't go to the party

It's very sad to say

Detroit is a very long

10 hour drive away

I am not anti-social

I'd love to have some fun

But breakfast calls

And coffee waits

And so I have to run

So everybody that can go

Please know how much I care

I'd love to meet you one and all

I wish I could be there

Very nice! I'm not on animations yet myself (or better modeling) but I do use it as a CAD substitute for making 3D designs to print out. Very cool to see it in use here!

I would like to dress as 𝘖𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘎𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘮𝘢𝘴 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦, showing visions of peace and prosperity that come after several Democratic presidential administrations...

Need to hammer out some details

Yes, Native American voting fucking matters big time, but your recollection is not accurate and doesn't contain the whole story on the big North Dakota dustup over voter ID and tribal members. I remember when that all went down too, so, being born and raised in ND on deeded land within reservation boundaries, I read up on the local tribal news and other local reporting and contacted the Secretary of State directly and what I discovered was that the problem centered around the requirement of street addresses on i.d.'s. ND doesn't require voter registration. Instead, when a North Dakotan goes to vote, they have to present their i.d. or driver's license and proof of address to vote. I remember this procedure when I voted in my first election at the age of 18 waaaay back in 1991. This is the way it's always been. The state's efforts to tighten voting laws was indeed dumb and favored white rural residents, but centered around the creation of the state's grid-based 911 system and assignment of street addresses to rural farms and residents. Tribal land is sovereign and was not included in the new 911 system; a separate matter entirely, which has since been addressed with the Tribes starting their own ambulance service. Back when the voter i.d. issue came up and I read about it in my home town newspaper, and in speaking with the Secretary of State, I found that the tribes where I grew up (Three Affiliated Tribes - Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikira Nation) had already been in contact with state officials and had come up with a solution to rally tribal members at community meetings where they either assigned proof of street address for tribal members or provided the verification documents needed for people to vote. There was no voter i.d. law put in place specifically targeting the Tribes, despite it's monumentally dumb effects. Anyone living in the State of North Dakota who only possesses a PO Box address will have difficulty voting and must prove their residence. The Tribes worked with their members and state officials to bring their documentation in line with the i.d. law and were able to vote just like every other person in the state. I recently moved back to ND after a number of years elsewhere and when it came time to vote in the primary, I had to bring my driver's license, prove that I had submitted a change of address, and prove my current residence with bank statements and utility bills. It was a bit of a pain, but I've always admired the fact that ND does not require voter regsitration. That should be the policy in every state. I hope very much that Trump's cult of garbage humans will not fuck that up for all of us. But, yeah, it was not a good thing, but it wasn't evil incarnate being done by the North Dakota Secretary of State. The end.

That garbage from Fidelity is something else. They left out "What will hapen to your money based on the candidates' policies on sending the military into major cities to clear out all the immigrants, Democrats, and people who ever said anything mean about said candidate"...

Expand full comment

But... I mean, it's literally their job to help their customers maximize their investments, so I'm not surprised by the messaging. It could even be argued that they would be negligent if they didn't address the different approaches of the candidates and the likely outcomes. It doesn't come right out and say, "if you rich people want to keep more money, vote for Trump," even though they may have wanted to.

Seems like they walked that line well between telling you what could happen and telling you who to vote for, but what do I know?

Is it possible that the markets would be impacted if, say, the US military were sent into major cities to forcibly remove all the Democrats and immigrants? Or if US national security secrets were being leaked right and left in exchange for flattery? If Putin invaded Europe? If market regulators based their actions on the whims of the current president rather than actual laws?

That is a pretty nice mansion although kinda overstuffed. I'm wondering what Mr. Owner does with all the space?? Then the last picture is of The Bedroom and it is very sad. Apparently Mr. Owner is an insomniac who probably never even goes to bed but wanders all night from room to room wondering where all the people are and trying to feel opulent. I feel that I would be a lot more comfortable hanging out in Rebecca's kitchen, personally. Sadly I will not be in Detroit this month.

Totally irrelevant digression. Today is Wonkette re-up day. My annual subscription was just paid off again. I just want to tell all of you out there that I think Wonkette is a small gem on the internet where there is a lighthearted view of our troubled world that is both helpful and fun. I also think everyone should give Rebecca more money so she can pay more people to do more stuff for ME!!!

> Hmmm, I finally finally finally made a retirement account, at Fidelity. Maybe I should roll that over somewhere else, if their judgment is so bad they think Trump would be good for “high earners” (I am not one). (Fidelity)

Well, no, they're right. Trump *would* be good for high "earners" (for very loose definitions of "earn"). Of course, that good comes at the expense of a lot of bad for everyone else. But that's outside the scope of the topic.
