Comey Adviser: He Had To Burn Down The Country For The GOP To Save It From The GOP

Guys! Guys! That thing FBI Director James Comey did, where he tossed decades of Justice Department neutrality in our elections onto the trash fire of history because Hillary Clinton sexted teenage girls on Anthony Weiner's laptop, is totally okay!

Splain it to us, Comey adviser! 

Daniel C. Richman, an adviser to Mr. Comey and a Columbia University law professor, argued that despite the backlash, Mr. Comey’s decision to inform Congress preserved the F.B.I.’s independence,which will ultimately benefit the next president.

“Those arguing that the director should have remained silent until the new emails could be reviewed — even if that process lasted, or was delayed, until after the election — give too little thought to the governing that needs to happen after November,” Mr. Richman said. “If the F.B.I. director doesn’t have the credibility tokeep Congress from interfering in the bureau’s workand to assure Congress that a matter has been or is being looked into, the new administration will pay a high price.”

"If the FBI director isn't able to guarantee elections for the GOP, how will he ever be able work with the GOP?"

"If the FBI doesn't give in to pressure from this Congress, how can it hope to resist pressure from some future Congress?"

"If people start thinking the FBI can be neutral, how the hell are we supposed to live up to the legacy of our founder, the great J. Edgar Hoover?"
