How about DON'T reapply the lining? It was fine before the lining! Just leave it as it was made to be!

InMyRoom's avatar

I'm surprised it won't be coated in gold paint.

This makes me worry about all the buildings Trump built. Were corners cut? Are any of them safe for occupancy?

We don't need to rip up the ballroom. It week fall down on its own.

I'm just spitballing here but 1) YES & 2) NO.

Here's an experiment I'd like to see: TFG, in the privacy of his Qatar bribery jet, to mix a gallon, each, of bleach and ammonia, breathing deeply and sans mask.

SkeptiKC's avatar

THAT will clean up one hell of nasty stinking stench originating from the Fetid Fascist.

Was there a liner in the pool previously, or was it just concrete? If concrete, why not go back to that, as it seems to have worked all these years. Oh, right - BLOATUS wants the pool to be the most bluiest of blues like his cheap, ill-fitting suits.

devourerofpancakes's avatar

I think there are genuine leak problems. But if course Trump tried to fix in the dumbest and griftiest way possible.

InMyRoom's avatar

iirc, it was granite slabs.

The $14.7 million should definitely come from Trumps personal finances (which have been amassed through corruption).

I love you good people, I do, but after reading what’s currently going on around here, I’m fighting an urge to go back to bed until, well, possibly tomorrow.

clairence's avatar

don't do it! Tomorrow never comes; it's always today.

Hey, put that DeLorean away.

Go do something that brings you joy. Even if it's just listening to some music or looking at nature images, etc. Watching a funny movie you like.

Mrs. Hero and the Herd need me, so there’s that. And I have enough MST3K and crosswords to keep me sane. Today, it’s “Danger! Death Ray” and “Catalina Caper”, then Rifftrax’s “Wonder Women”.

EyeQueue's avatar

MST3K is always a good go-to. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Hang in there.

SkeptiKC's avatar

If it weren't for MST3K I'd be locked down on the psych unit across town. It's my secondary escape measure during these sick and twisted days.

My PRIMARY digital escape mechanism remains the incredible Wonkette, my 24/7 safe space.

Way back in 2020, people asked me, often incredulously, why on Earth I supported Old Handsome Joe. My answer was pretty simple: He'd been in Washington long enough to know all the people smart enough and competent enough to put the government back together.

And he did, and they did. Or they did as much as they could in 4 years with a Supreme Court actively interfering with executive authority.

And I will never not be pissed off that a bunch of shitheads who didn't get their way in 2020 looked at the most competent, most progressive president since LBJ and decided to undermine him because they wanted their damned pony.

Clammed Can Monster's avatar

We all knew he was a caretaker and fix broken stuff choice, didn’t expect him to push forward and break much new ground. He did good.

SethTriggs's avatar

Yes, but the important thing is to get the blood libel out before the truth so that people feel justified in repressing people. Ideally a vexatious prosecution suit should proceed. Unfortunately, the clownshoes lolyer fuckery shall continue until sanctions and/or contempt of court start being assessed.

Don’t stop talking abt it until the innocent ppl who were arrested get damages owed to them and paid to them by the 🇺🇸 govt

ElderlyLoudCatWomyn's avatar

Anyone with a brain, even half a brain, even a quarter... knew that the problem was with the installation. The most amazing thing to me is that the NYT published something that makes trump look bad. Not that trump isn't capable of that all on his own. Can I sue? Can all Americans sue - individually - to get a check?

Frank Talk, Action Pundit!'s avatar

So, they're returning the $14.7M payment of OUR tax dollars? Or do they have to be sued for it?

CzechJournalists's avatar

i'd settle for some still under warranty replacement eating into their substantial profit margin. also, exactly how massive were the kickbacks?

Frank Talk, Action Pundit!'s avatar

Let's sue and find out in Discovery!

CzechJournalists's avatar

i see an immediate running to the sinister six supremes and a finding that nobody has standing.

Professor Plum, in the pool, with the dagger. C'mon. I hope the people who were arrested get compensated.

It’s hard to compensate for ruining somebody’s life, stealing time away that they can never get back.

Clammed Can Monster's avatar

Just make him wait first. He’ll probably sleep right through his allotted time.

SethTriggs's avatar

Murc's Law. It is perfectly acceptable for him to be an empty-headed muppet.

EyeQueue's avatar

Normalization.

"It's just Trump being Trump."

We cannot allow this kind of normalization to happen ever fucking again. EVER.

Don't let anyone in your private or professional lives get away with this.

I had to attend a negotiation training a few months back that I had to report back on to my group, and it went over the different "types" of people you are likely to run into in negotiations.

One was "The Intimidator." The loud, blustery, asshole that sucks all the oxygen out of the room. The method for dealing with that person was to placate them. Take breaks. Try not to set them off.

When I reported back, I told the group that *this* is what the training recommended.

But I then pointed out that I felt strongly given current world events that we cannot just placate people like that and that is how we ended up where we are. I didn't get any more political than that.

I said that we cannot allow people to act like that. And I would suggest if someone starts acting like this we say, "When you can behave with respect and civility we will resume this negotation. Thank you for your time." *end zoom call*

A couple said they would not do that. Fuck them. WE CANNOT ALLOW THIS SHIT TO BE NORMALIZED ANY FURTHER!

Clammed Can Monster's avatar

You can’t placate them. If they want what you have, they’re always going to come back to that.

Shallow state's avatar

"One was "The Intimidator." The loud, blustery, asshole that sucks all the oxygen out of the room. The method for dealing with that person was to placate them. Take breaks. Try not to set them off."

So they were basically training you how to continue being the victim of a domestic abuser.

EyeQueue's avatar

Pretty much, yes.

And I've had men shout and yell and slam fists down on the table and if it had been up to *me* (and not the "man" in the room at the time, who was my superior) the call would have been ended right then.

I've told fuckos that I won't deal with them unless they can treat me with courtesy and respect and then I've hung up on them and was institutionally empowered by my office to do so. We didn't have to take that kind of abuse and that was just with our own faculty, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DavidGC's avatar

I have no clue. why is he still president?

SethTriggs's avatar

Because he is the champion of the unreconstructed, and that allows for massive inbuilt deference in the political and legal systems. He's insulated from accountability with Murc's Law, and he represents millions and millions of bigots who catapulted him to power and gave his same unreconstructed party unitary control of government. Why? So he could destroy and torment the minorities they hate.

SkeptiKC's avatar

He MUST be removed. At THIS onerous historical interlude it is abundantly clear that the man is a fucking psychopath who will callously order the execution of hundreds of innocent Americans in order to scare everyone else into submission.

I wish like HELL that I was just being facetious. Fuck me running, you have NO idea just how earnestly I wish I was just joking.

EyeQueue's avatar

And then the TEch Bros need to be taxed to fuck so they cannot buy off entire fucking governments and run their own space programs.

EyeQueue's avatar

Because we are cowardly weak sauce excuses for human beings collectively in this country.

SkeptiKC's avatar

Not ALL of us...

EyeQueue's avatar

True that. I'm waiting for some real organization. A real Resistance. I don't know how to start something like that or I would have. :(

There should be younger people out there getting that started, IMO. I'm a 55-year-old woman. I will join in any movement, but the organizing of anything like this is beyond my abilities and skillset.

TheHeroOfCanton's avatar

True, but I also wouldn’t underestimate the influence of his spineless toadies under his wing.

Jeff Tiedrich shared a clip of a MAGA creature giving us its assessment of trump's job so far in his second term. She says this is actually his third term because he knew Biden would cheat and let him do it and win, while Obama ran things from the basement of the WH, except for the military which trump retained control of. Also, too, Melania despises her husband. She treats him like an oozing cold sore. Read it and weep my Wonketariat. https://www.jefftiedrich.com/p/this-week-in-stupid-september-12

Here's a thing, among many things, and it is a fundamental thing:

Not one fucking thing was discovered, uncovered or revealed. Every bit of skill, knowledge and experience required to do the work was specified for suitability, for compliance... such expertise was a phone call away.

This wasn't a problem to be solved, it was a task to be done.

Then came The Unitary Executive Who Knows Everything and saw an opportunity.
