Can't speak for Mississippi, but until 2010 both Arkansas senators were democrats. Then we lost one seat that year, the next in 2012. Clinton was governor for over a decade, then dems and republicans traded back and forth until 2014 when Asa Hutchinson became governor, served 8 years, and then the current sycophant got into office. We used to have democrats in the house of representatives, too! So PLEASE don't write us off!!

Now we have a billionaire running for governor, a wife beater running again for the House, and a corrupt appointed senator running for senate.

First, if you're flush, give money to your chosen candidates. Many of us are just getting by, but that doesn't mean we're powerless. Speak up! Talk to family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, acquaintances about why it's imperative to vote Democratic up and down the ballot. Knock on doors unless that's too dangerous where you live. If all that's out, phone bank, postcard, display merch, make sure there's plenty of signage for chosen contenders; if not, you can get signs from your local D organization. Offer a "loan" to someone living in poverty to help obtain documents. Drive someone to the DMV for photo ID. My last job before retirement gave us Election Day off in presidential years, but only an hour off for the other three years. Many employers won't even do that; far too many people are working multiple jobs with no time off at all. Do you know someone like that and own a car? Offer a ride to the polls in the morning before work, then take them to work; or pick them up to vote after work before the polls close. Many of the poll closures (looking at you, TX) are on college campuses, and there are students without cars. Organize a personal "souls to the polls" and pack as many of them as space and the law allows. Get creative! When we vote, we WIN!!
People misunderstood the 50 state strategy. It was not just to win the most elections, it was to make sure someone was there to challenge the conservative talk radio fictions and speak truth to power. People might not vote for a Democrat this year, but with a 50-state strategy, their children might when they turn 18. You have to invest in a paradigm of economic justice over time, because people don't usually change their minds overnight. (They are now though.)

I sent an actual letter, printed out, inserted into an addressed envelope, stamp attached, to my Senator, Rob Portman, for signing that letter.
He wrote back that it looked like we were going to have to agree to disagree and harvested my email address for his newsletter, "Rob's Rundown."
