It’s long past time Mainers sent Susan “I’ll only serve two terms” Collins off into the sunset.
But I’m still concerned. Not only because of the drama around he who shall not be named, but also because we’ve been here before. During the summer of 2020, it looked like Collins was toast, but then she pulled a comeback in the 11th hour. Could she do it again? I don’t know. But I’m not taking anything for granted.
There aren’t many senators who are more full of shit than Collins, but one of them recently died and was replaced by his sister. And that race looks better for republicans than Maine does.
Sort of OT: Why are we letting Saudi Arabia, the country that bankrolled the 911 terrorists, get nuclear weapons, but are going to war with Iran because the Trump administration alleges it has nuclear weapons? I can't be the only one old enough to remember 911.
Sort of OT - WAPO has a really great analysis of overcrowding at the NYC ICE detention facilities. The report uses a pirated cell phone video and ICE internal emails about overcrowding. There were as many as 86 people held in cells for eight. Maybe Collins can express her concern for this.
I think we should start questioning if the 2024 election was legitimate.
Every time a Republican refuses to acknowledge the legitimacy of the 2020 election our retort should be, “does that mean the 2024 election was not legitimate?” “Should we open an investigation?”
