While I prefer the minimum <i>possible</i> amount of moderation, I&#039;m old enough to have watched several once-interesting newsgroups and websites go up in flames. IMO, the tipping point is personal attacks -- not &quot;what you said&quot;, but &quot;who you are&quot;. Ban the fuck out of that.

I don&#039;t know the incident(s) you describe. I&#039;ve read Barb&#039;s comments and she is not only the funniest person here, but seems to be a remarkably kind, together, thoughtful person who has been going through a very rough time.
There is never an excuse for someone to be a bully. Barb shouldn&#039;t have to put with any crap - and, of course, neither should anyone else here. We have enough problems in this world that need to be handled.
I thoroughly agree with CK that we should treat each other with some reasonable level of respect - and there is no cause and no place for anyone being a bully.
I don&#039;t see the bright line to your rules. I can&#039;t agree that you &quot;caused&quot; any of this hot mess - people here need to accept responsibility for their actions.
I&#039;m almost certain I said &quot;thank you&quot; for the free beer, but if by some circumstance (e.g., too much free beer) I did not, Thank you very much for the very indeterminate quantity of free beer.
