Congresscritter Gary Miller Knows Immigrants' Pain, Because He Moved From Arkansas To California
August is such a slow news month. Thankfully, members of Congress seem to insist on saying stupid stuff at town halls, for which Yr Wonkette is very grateful. For instance, how about this brilliant "I feel your pain" moment from California Rep. Gary Miller? At a Republican breakfast event last Friday, Miller was confronted by several undocumented young people whose parents had brought them to the U.S. as children. When two of them urged Miller to support immigration reform, he replied,
I understand the difficulty…I was born in Arkansas, I came here [to California] when I was a year old. Come on, I don’t know. There’s nothing to vote on. See, the [Senate] bill’s going nowhere in the House.
Yr Wonkette would just like to say that we empathize with the survivors of the Bataan Death March, because one time we went for a hike and forgot to bring enough water. We were really thirsty when we got back.
As ThinkProgress notes, Miller's newfound sense of deep identification with the DREAM Act kids seems at odds with his earlier votes to "defund the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, a program in which some of the immigrants featured in the video would likely qualify."
Hey, we bet that if he were voted out of office, he would really understand what it's like to be forced out of the only country you've ever lived in.

True, but you'd think that by now he'd have made the transition. Typical lazy immigrant.
You're right, Arkansas is a beautiful state.
Its such a shame its populated by 80% ignorant morons. As someone who lived in Southwestern Missouri for years, I feel pretty confident that my samplings of northern arkansas were fairly definitive in establishing that most of the people there are just as awful and small minded as their counterparts in Missouri.
So yes, I do feel for that fifth of the population that is decent, intelligent human beings. Does not change my overall assessment of the state.
