August is such a slow news month. Thankfully, members of Congress seem to insist on saying stupid stuff at town halls, for which Yr Wonkette is very grateful. For instance, how about this brilliant "I feel your pain" moment from California Rep. Gary Miller? At a Republican breakfast event last Friday, Miller was confronted by several undocumented young people whose parents had brought them to the U.S. as children. When two of them urged Miller to support immigration reform, he replied,
You're right, Arkansas is a beautiful state.
Its such a shame its populated by 80% ignorant morons. As someone who lived in Southwestern Missouri for years, I feel pretty confident that my samplings of northern arkansas were fairly definitive in establishing that most of the people there are just as awful and small minded as their counterparts in Missouri.
So yes, I do feel for that fifth of the population that is decent, intelligent human beings. Does not change my overall assessment of the state.
i'll stop trashing the south when the south stops trashing chicago. or when they stop trashing my 75 year old (southern) mother in law for wearing an obama t-shirt.
I understand the difficulty…
I was all set to snark away about Rep. Miller and what if his kids were deported. But, whoa, here's what I found:
On November 19, 2007, three of Miller's grandsons were abducted by their estranged mother, Jennifer Lopez DeJongh. In August 2011, DeJongh and the boys were located in Mexicali, Mexico.
His grandsons spent four undocumented years in Mexico instead of "the only country they had ever known". How ironic! I want to believe he said "I understand the difficulty..." meaning to talk about that incident, then quickly decided not to bring his family into the issue. Or maybe he's just a shallow jerk.

Hey, we bet that if he were voted out of office, he would really understand what it’s like to be forced out of the only country you’ve ever lived in.

You know how people are always complaining that politicians are too polished and rehearsed and never said what they really thought? THIS IS THE OPPOSITE.
True, but you'd think that by now he'd have made the transition. Typical lazy immigrant.

My cable teevee was disconnected for a while, which is why I am able to have such keen insight into how difficult the blind have it.

i cannot focus on any of this while michael douglas and catherine zeta jones are separated.
Republicans and empathy don’t mix. Fact.
LET X = WTF
To which I say MOVE WTF TO X.

Yes, on a train to the death camps.
The Aristocrats!

Anywhere you hang yourself is home.
There's a lot less gun control in those desert counties, so an Arkansawyer would feel right at home.
Mexico has health care for everyone.
