I suspect he will derive some benefit from being sworn in to the new term before resigning.

Hard to believe, culturally speaking, that Grimm got in trouble for not paying FICA on the employee wages of his, uh, health food restaurant.. You'd expect an owner with a pony tail, body art, etc.

However, not paying taxes you owe to cover your employees' Soshecurity and Medicare benefits is very Republican. You don't want those lazy takers to get used to warming their snouts in the public trough. As a job creator, it is Grimm's obligation to increase stockholder value by cutting costs wherever possible. The fact that Grimm is the only stockholder is immaterial.

...considering that he knows how to break someone over his knee like a boy, I am hoping for prison time so he can "try" and put that skill to use.

So was the Jan. 5th date specifically God's recommendation, or give he just give Grimm some general guidelines on timing? Bible Literalists demand to know!!!

They know perfectly well what the right thing to do is. They pray for the strength to do it, and for the strength to face the mockery, anger, contempt, and jailtime that will ensue when they do it.

I think this is why so many religious folks assume that one cannot have morality without religion. If you don't pray, how can you possibly ever find the strength to do the right thing?

Therefore, we who do not pray are never doing the right thing. QED.

PS In the case of Michael Grimm, I doubt very much he's doing any praying at all. He's a master of lip service and sound bites, is all.

Why is prayer seen as a sign of personal virtue? Seems more like a clear indication of mental illness.

Yesterday's NY Times front page was a thing of beauty, containing the following headlines:
