As snarly as they come Perpetually aggrieved fuckstick Darrell Issa (R-That One Rightwing Part Of SoCal) just might be facing a real reelection fight this fall, and unlike the fake Obamacare hearings he enjoyed holding, he won't be able to shut out people who think he's a dick. In a big change from previous elections where Issa has rolled right over his opposition, he's actually got some serious competition. Tell us more, Orange County Register!
Unfortunately, those are some of my relatives. One of them went off about how we ought to test those welfare queens for drugs and such, and my sister turned to them and said "Sweetie, you are on food stamps, and if you were given an alcohol test right now, you would not pass it, so please stop talking."
My primary experience with Issa outside of Washington is his appearances on Bill Maher's panels. He seems to be pretty cool with Maher calling him an asshole on live TV.
Orange County is notoriously the Alabama of California. It was settled by Okies during the Dust Bowl times. A lot of extremely narrow minded pasty white folks. Until just a few decades ago it was entirely small all-white towns, hardly any minorities.
I live in L.A. and my car broke down in Buena Park--a dusty little town then (home of Knott's Berry Farm, about an hour south of L.A.) about thirty years ago. I persuaded the two young whitey whitersons driving the AAA truck to drive me back up to L.A. for some extra $$. As we got closer to L.A., I hear them saying to each other "I saw one!" "There's one!" and horribly realized they were "spotting" black people. They apparently never came up to the sinful land of L.A. and black people were exotic "sightings." Awful. There's a reason it was the breeding ground of the John Birch society.
Central Valley/Riverside is very blue-collar, has its fair share of low-information rednecks. Trailer trash spouting anti-Mexican bigotry as they live in a state that used to be part of Mexico, all the place names are Spanish, and the Mexican families they're looking down on were there generations before them.
Together they used to be enough to drag all of California Republican--I grew up in Berkeley and it was always to our despair when the O.C. vote came in and the state was voting for, you know, Nixon. But in the past few decades, we've welcomed many, many new faces, new cultures, new minorities, and new inventive, open minds, with the growth of Silicon Valley, the explosive growth of L.A., and combined with the SF Bay Area, finally California is solid true-blue.

I thought John Kasich or Chris Christie would be all over those chickens. Especially fried.
November 8 might be a noisy night in my household...
In true fuckface fashion, Ol'Darrell has learned that having all that money isn't nearly as sweet as being able to take money away from others.

Power.
Here on the Central Coast, we have had just a handful of Ms. Clinton ads and that's it.
how do you think he got all of that money?
the dems don't even run candidates for some offices in my state.
R-Car Thief
Yep, I think Col Applegate will be getting some of my Ameros as well, once I clear things with my employer.
This is going to be interesting in California with our blanket (first two past the post) primary. Some districts may be D-D or R-R races.
Although I think I was mildly surprised that mine (the bluest blue west of Philadelphia) was going to be a D-R race.
you guys love making lawsi see them on all my consumer productscant you make some that make sense for your government

I should have written Issa's district (49th) is. The 50th is +14. There are big chunks of blue though. Thanks for making me go back to verify.
Our Leg is a lot more functional these days, so we have, thanks.
Not crazy about the blanket primary, but if we get frustrated by it, there will be change.
