"A cashew", (seriously, I had a friend who nicknamed his penis that.)

I always felt rather awkward about it, but it is a unique connection to a notorious period in history.

His uncle Dickie Mountbatten promoted the match so he could run the show, but got cut out of the deal.

And she relates a conversation in which, apparently, somebody asked how dark her son's skin would be. ...I'm just going to say it, I don't believe that happened. ...The reason I don't think that happened is because no one says anything like that.

Here's the thing. Last poll I could find, 11% of US voters said that they morally disapproved of interracial marriage. 11% That's 1 in 9.

So, first off, the "no one" in "no one says anything like that" is actually only 88% (1% were unsure of exactly how racist they wanted to be on the phone with a stranger).

Secondly, even if the royal family were no more racist than the US electorate at large (a proposition I find dubious, but let's run with this) there would only need to be 9 members of the royal family before it would be statistically expected for someone to say stupid shit like this.

Thirdly, I think there are more than 9 members of the royal family.

Fourthly, I think they're going to be a lot more racist than the average US voter, because

Fifthly, these are people who are trained - since birth! - to believe that how you are born matters. Of course elitist, self-important assholes trained to believe that they are special by right of birth are going to say stupid shit about making sure the next baby in the family is born as special as possible. And of course when the press has made a big deal about Harry marrying a Black woman when no British heir to the monarchy has ever married a Black person part of what those racist prigs are going to focus on is race and skin color.

If they're going to worry about something fucking up the special right of birth, it was always going to be based on traits the mother marrying into the royal family brought with her. They can't worry about her intelligence or kindness or talent, so they're going to worry about the color of her skin.

I mean, if they can maintain their royal specialness by right of birth when they let just anyone marry into the royal family, then maybe anyone could be born special, and if anyone could be born special, then maybe there was nothing special about being born a member of the family in the first place.

If there's anything more obvious than that the royal family was going to obsess about the traits of a royal baby and focus on traits that might be new/different in the next royal baby, I honestly don't know what it would be.

Shorter me: Ben Shapiro is an idiot.

Have you ever seen such privileged people wallowing in their own (perceived) victimhood like this? I know I shouldn't be surprised at the absence of self-awareness from Megan Kelly but holy shit, she's serious. Ummmm yeah the trumps, the January 6 insurrectionists, a whole bunch of Congress critters, anyone who served in assmouth's cabinet, the Charlottesville assholes, Karens, white supremacists, fox news, I'm too tired to go on. What a bunch of shit.

Known racist, Princess Michael of Kent (married to Queen's cousin), wore a Blackamoor brooch to a luncheon where she met Meghan for the first time. Meghan was offended and got a nonpology - "sorry if you were offended." Her father was an SS officer. https://uploads.disquscdn.c...

Only 11% of people think it’s *morally wrong*. The number of white people who will speculate about how dark a biracial baby will be is so much higher than that. Perfectly nice white folks who would never, ever question whether or not it’s ok for an interracial couple to marry, and would be appalled by anyone who thought otherwise still want to know if that baby is going to be able to pass. If grandma doesn’t up and ask outright, one of the aunts will give a little pursed-mouth smile and a “well...who does the baby favor?”. Which is a thing everybody asks about every baby, but the tone and the body language let you know what they mean. I am entirely astonished that people are shocked by this. Stephen and I are the same age and from the same area of the country but I’m pretty sure it’s not a phenomenon specific to the families of GenXers in the piedmont region of the Carolinas.

Edit: Also too Ben Shapiro is an idiot who brings pleasure to no one.

The difference between your first proposition and the second is that there is not a jot of evidence for the second, while the first is factually based.

The second proposition, while being sexist as hell, is also entirely the confection of the British press. Shame on you for repeating it and giving it the slightest credence.
