Officer Jeronimo Yanez's bracelet the day he shot Philando Castile. Yesterday, Ramsey County, Minnesota, released dashcam video from Officer Jeronimo Yanez's police car, as he pumped seven bullets into the body of Philando Castile, after Castile informed the officer he was legally carrying a gun.
I live in Harlem. I am white but all my AA friends have the talk with their kids, and I had it with my HS-aged daughter. Cops have guns. And many are itching for a fight.
It's fantastically horrible because I made it up*, but give it time; this is America, who I'm often told is exceptional.
*Last I checked, no police department to date has Iron Man-style powered armor equipped with delayed-action explosive bullets. But again, this is America, so just wait.
Why not wrongful death? Supposedly he was stopped for a broken tail light but there was no broken tail light. He literally did nothing wrong. I don't care if the cop smelled weed (either true or untrue). This was wrongful death and I hope his family sues the hell out of the cop and the city. The girlfriend and the little girl are going to need therapy for a long time.
Yeah but I recognize that it's very telling that I never felt the need as a parent to tell my son things like that. Not that I considered it and rejected it, I just never thought about it because I didn't have to. That's the definition of white privilege right there.
That "5 yr old...marijuana..." crap is such arrant bullshit, I can't believe anybody's buying it. I do think it's all about the training with these cops, though. They need to shoot last, not first, Jesus.
Sure, I hope they sue him and the city into oblivion. But he ought to have to deal with going to jail. I was trying to think of a criminal charge that might stick, since murder apparently didn't.
Here now. This is America. We don't blame the gun. Ever.

I like that one. With the money coming from the police budget... that would really turn around the "culture" of bust 'em for EWB.
I find myself saying quite often these days: This is only happening in the greatest nation in history.

Yeah, that totally reeks of ex post facto justification. Think of the CHILDREN!!11!!!!
Jesus! Don't give them ideas!
Based on that logic, I've acted "hinky" in ever interaction I've ever had with a police officer, ever, in my life.
No, France is pretty quiet currently. And our police does not shoot unarmed citizens. Not even armed ones, usually.

I still can't bring myself to watch.
Yeah, and wolves only survive thanks to environmental activists, and there are plenty of sheep on hand, so what the fuck does that even mean?
Thank you. I had a BAD BAD kitty who looked just like these two. Well, one of them. Still miss her.
