Congratulations, people of Kinloch, Missouri! You found someone willing to undertake the thankless job of small town mayor and you gave her the most votes. But who knew the difficulty of a campaign would pale in comparison to trying to physically enter Kinloch City Hall
This kinda stuff is what I have been worried about from the goptp. Every thing has kinda been even because of the elections in 10 But I know that once repugs lose the house, senate and get even farther from the White House then they are now they will do this same thing only on a national level, and with much more violence in essence an overthrow of the United States Government. I tell people this here in the south and they deny it with a wink.They disguise this crap as a second coming of their god, All I see is repugs starting another shooting civil war. Nobody in their right mind wants to see that well except repugs, I get that. But it will take more instances like this to start waking people up to just what depths the repugs will go to take back their America.
If you press the gun nuts as to who and when, exactly, they plan to shoot to defend this country against tyranny, they get all agitated and confused and stuff.
I think this is the reality they aspire to. They want anyone coming into government with plans to, you know, govern, to know that there is a bunch of people out there who might go off at a moments notice and start firing away.
Somehow, this is supposed to advance conservative values.
There seems to be some information missing from this conversation.... A lot of people are assuming that she is being blocked because she is black. I rather doubt it. I live in St. Louis, and I went to high school in Florissant (which is next to Kinloch and Ferguson, and shares a school district with those two towns). Kinloch is a black town - it was founded by blacks. I assume it was founded because all the nearby white towns were sundown towns. I am certain Florissant was - when I moved there in 1979, the cops still had a reputation for harassing anyone engaging in DWB . Last I heard, Kinloch's population is 100% black. I am assuming the outgoing mayor, and the cops, were all black as well.As the article notes, the town has been pretty well decimated.Sorry for such a long comment.... been lurking for about a month, this is my first comment.
Know about Fr Coughlin. Lovely piece of work! However, that was 80 years ago. Wasn't mainstream then, wouldnt be now.My point was more about the St Louis area than about religion in general.
St. Louis is not that bad. I've also lived in Orange County, CA, and the people are a whole lot nicer here. There are just a few areas... and topics of conversation... to avoid. That blog is one person, and it isn't run by the Archdiocese.
