My own pet theory, with no evidence to back it up, is that they will try to find a "sane" (ie, establishment) Republican to run for Lt. Governor and, if Robinson and the GOP Lt Gov candidate wins, they'll figure out some way to kick Robinson out of office if he gets out of line.

Minority politicians like Mark Robinson, and other like him (Clarence Thomas, Tim Scott, and Ben Carson) desire the approval of their white peers and have bought into the idea that they’re “not like the others” of their own racial or ethnic group.
