We had a small bat get trapped in our fireplace in our last house. It was summer, so obviously we weren't having a fire, but I heard noises coming from the firebox (which had a glass and mesh screen). Somehow the little fella had got all the way down the chimney, and couldn't figure out how to get back up it. Fearing that he'd starve to death if we didn't get him out of there, I donned the welding gloves I kept with the fire tools and set about trying to extricate him. That's when I learned they can cling to masonry like fucking Velcro®, but I was eventually able to peel him off the brick, and took hi outside. He was not especially happy with this effrontery, and let me know it in what I can only assume was the most obscenity laden string of bat speech ever hear around these parts, but I got him to a perch under the trees where he was off the ground and in the shade, and when I looked back he'd buggered off. So Happys Ending? 'Cause if the ending's not happy, the movie isn't over yet. (Bonus points.)
