I'll think of this remark when I next speak to a Republican. Now I know what they're really made of

It took this long?

They probably don't even believe what they're saying. Folks like Jim Hoft are just in it for the grift. The idea is to muddy the waters for conservative voters, to keep them in the religious faith of conservatism.

If they examine conservatism too closely (like Christians who read the Bible end-to-end), a bunch will leave the faith.

I figure emulating Cummings or Ginsburg, this is probably a bit beyond contemporary AI.

Dude. Nothing beats a failure but a try.

All of this.

Here is the felony Mulvaney was either too arrogant, too lazy, or too stupid to know he was confessing to. I've been handing the piece out.

I have avoided posts on Elijah Cummings death because the whole subject just makes me sad. I wonder, however cautiously though, if the trumpster fire has acknowledged or said anything about it. Then, maybe I think I don't really want to know what he might have said, so perhaps I shouldn't look.

Rep. Cummings did more for the American people on his deathbed than Mitch McConnell's Senate has done all year.

Thank you Stephen. Dammit, it's been hours since the cleaning folks were here but the air is all dusty again for some reason.

When we die...look, honestly I don't really know what happens when we die. Got ideas, beliefs informed by my faith, but no actual proof or certainty about any of it. I'm entirely open to the possibility of being wrong about what happens next. Heaven, Hell, reincarnation, nothing at all, y'got me. I choose to believe in an eternal Heaven for people like Elijah Cummings, and an eternal Hell for trump, because that sort of equanimity seems right and just, and that it should be so helps keep me sane.

But really though if I'm going to look for any form of permanence beyond death, I'm going to look to the mark someone left on the world and especially the people in it. Let those waves ripple out, let the people one person's affected make their own waves drawing upon the influence of the departed, and there's the true measure of eternal life. If that be the case, then the Honorable Representative Cummings will be dancing and singing with the angels no less and no shorter a time than if Heaven is for real.

I feel unworthy in comparing myself to the lion of true justice, Rep. Cummings. And, yet, I also believe he, himself, would not look upon me as unworthy. Therein was his immense power; compassion and forgiveness for those who seemed unworthy and fiercely working to protect those who are disenfranchised. It's my fervent hope that we all move forward in honoring his legacy, while deeply missing the righteous warrior we've lost.
