Either they're just insanely incompetent, or they've deliberately fucked it up to be able to use it as a campaign stick to beat on the Dems with, like The Wall.

Mother Jones helpfully reminded me that trump has like a half-billion in loans due on his properties ovr the next four years, some of which were personally guaranteed by the Mango Mussolini himself which means they come after his stuff, not just his hapless money-laundering Russian gangsters investors.

Those two words, "more Justices" - could Trump be advocating for the expansion of SCOTUS?!? Remember, 9 Justices is not ingrained in the Constitution. If Tyrant Dippy were to expand the SCOTUS before Joe Biden crushes him, there would be precedent for SCOTUS expansion. And why not? Why couldn't we have 15 Justices?

"They punted, much like in a football game (where hopefully they would stand with our great American Flag.)" Come on folks, is this a capable, sane leader?? I am at my wit's end, no lie.

Except instead of just quietly moving on, he apparently intends to try to rescind it again.

Biff seems to think that all he has to do is fill in a few blanks and tomorrow Roberts will give him the green light. Does he realize that he’s been kicked back to square one? Even if he announced a new DACA repeal tomorrow, it would be immediately challenged and he’d have to work his way back through the courts. By the time it reaches the Supreme Court, if there is a god, he will be gone.

eh, probably still not, but im thinking he'll take a knee on the election, or vote Biden, but probably take a knee.

I wonder if it's dawned on them just how rotten the politics of this is for them going in to the election? A majority of REPUBLICANS support letting the Dreamers stay, but they're going to try to rescind DACA again, and this time they're going to have to actually explain why they want to do this.

And they're going to have to do all of this going into an election! The attack ads practically write themselves. DACA is extremely popular.

A reminder the other four conservative hacks on this court were willing to go along with this.SCOTUS is bad now but it can be so much worse and it will be if Trump gets another term in office.

'deferred action' is action denied.

The open endedness of DACA also allows for endless attack and election wedge issue fuckery. Papa Trumpler could do a EO the same way that Obama enacted DACA but he doesn't want to own it like Obama did. He's a pussy at heart and a cowardly wimp.Republicans actually down deep love Gay, marijuana smoking immigrants, it gives them so much to hate on and run against.

They are toying with human life so they can't vote for better human lives.Assholes extraordinaire.

Roberts has punted on.a lot of important constitutional issues. The decision on a citizenship question on the census was almost exactly like this one, Trump did not follow rules to include that question, not that asking it violated the constitutional issue of getting an accurate count.

The partisan gerrymandering decision was very similar. He sent some cases back to lower courts who had ruled it was not constitutional, with vague instructions to reconsider. Some cases were in the courts for over 3 years. Until finally he got Kennedy off the court, and decided the U.S. Supreme Court was too stupid to tell what partisan gerrymandering was, or what to do about it. But hey, you states, maybe you have some ideas. Of course, Republican state legislatures that benefit from that gerrymandering are lining up to fix it by planning even more gerrymandered districts.

btw, the NC courts finally got under Democratic control and said that excessive partisan gerrymandering was unconstitutional, so make sure you vote in every judicial election this year so other states, even with Republican legislatures or governors, may have to get honest.

Then we have Roberts pushing back cases in separation of powers, executive privilege, and congressional oversight until the 2021 session. Which is interesting since the Supreme Court during the Watergate era called a special session in July to hear from Nixon and prosecutors on executive privilege on the White House tapes. And ruled 8-0 with one recusal within 3 weeks that of course Nixon had to release the tapes. Bring part of the impeachment process made it even more urgent.

The entire episode took less than 3 months from a subpoena issued to Nixon and a final court decision. But Roberts will stretch critical constitutional issues out for two years or more (He may punt on that too, sending it back to lower courts who ruled Trump has to release evidence with vague instructions to reconsider).

Now, I think he may not be too sure about Trump being around by January, and too busy running a campaign and tweeting to fix the DACA red tape deficiencies. So after January, the case may be dropped. Did I mention that Roberts is a chickenshit weasel?
