Marcie, I was so glad to see you mention Bancroft's book. Yours is the first since I found the book 20+ years ago. I bought 3 copies, 1 for me and 2 to lend. It literally saved my life by reassuring me I wasn't crazy, all my perceptions were accurate. And all your observations about the current political crazy are on point - keep up the good and important work. Wonkette forever!
Trump has been methodically taking over everything states have sole right to do. So much for "conservatism" and "states' rights." He has become a full-blown dictator. I doubt we will have midterm elections; without voting machines and mail-in ballots, how can there be?
I know it's late, but I've been reading through the link on "Why Does He Do That" by Lundy, and it's spooky how much I can see about a previous boyfriend in it. NOT ever actually violent to me (though our relationship was brief), but so many warning signs. Even stuff I didn't see, despite having been taught about "warning signs" of abuse, and being pretty confident about relationships, and feeling like I've learned a lot from being in the criminal justice system and seeing abusive people. Jesus.
I gotta tell you, I dodged a bullet with that guy, which I sort of thought when I broke up with him and felt a little "something" that there was something wrong, but now I'm like RED FLAGS ALL OVER!!!
Luckily it was done and I moved to another state before the supposed Honeymoon Period ended, but still--I'm not going to Google him but I BET he's been involved with some sort of domestic violence stuff since then (and before then--I learned just before I broke it off that two--TWO--women accused him of rape).
Congrabulations, though it was 'splained to me one time that congratulating a drunk for not drinking is like congratulating a kid for not putting their hand on the hot stove repeatedly.
I keed. It was 36 years for me on July 10th. You have some catching up to do, young'n!
he didn’t the first time. getting cratered by the chronic incurable illness which nearly killed my father and defined my childhood— inheriting my literal worst nightmare since childhood, and watching it run through my life and remake my already fragile relationship with my trans body— didn’t do it either. this is the thing that I will not allow to be taken from me. the one thing I can keep anything from taking from me.
An exceedingly talented classical guitarist who's spent half his life dealing with internal demons presents a song that I think most people can relate to on some level.
Almost asleep, I remembered I likely hadn’t locked one of the exterior doors. In general principle, not because I thought that anyone would be able to navigate the exterior stairs down there in the dark without breaking their neck, or were likely to try, but just because it’s good practice, I went downstairs and noticed that the fire was almost out, just burned down to cinders, and decided to get that going. Check the back door yep, locked it. Checked the cats, when was sleepy, but stumbled out of bed and over to see me so she got scratches and a hug. Back to bed, another cat sort of sleeping on the chair outside bedroom door, she got scritches and now it’s time to go to sleep.
Whoops, somebody’s scratching the door, and I guess I’ll fold, because I always do. Upsadaisey.
We’re using a new cover page for the TPS reports, now, not sure if U got the memo…cuz U submitted the correct TPS report we need, but using the older previous TPS reports cover page… I’ll have my gal go ahead and make sure U get copies of the memo… U can go ahead and resubmit Ur TPS report w the new TPS cover page we’re using now on Saturday when we expect Team Players Flair Up Get Down 😂🤗😎
It certainly is. My city is considering buying these and the sales guy was going on and on about how how A. It's not mass surveillance (yes it is!) if you only scan the license plates and act on the illegal ones and 2. nobody could access the database to do warrantless searches.

What, exactly, is a "POWERFUL" border?
Can it bench press twice its weight? Exhale twenty feet of flames? Crush not just empty but FULL beer cans with its mind?
Explain me please, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. (Someone has to deactivate that guy's caps-lock key.)
Caps-lock?!
Donald, do you even shift?

Rejected name for Cruella DeVille or stuffy dowager from any Marx Brothers movie.
Your choice.
Trump wants Texas to gerrymander it's districts so Republicans can gain total control of the House of Representatives in 2026.
Once Republicans have control of Congress they will give Trump "Congressional Approval" to run for a 3rd term.
The Constitution doesn't matter to White Conservative Christians, it doesn't serve their needs, so they will toss it aside.
That's when we start on the "you-know-what solutions."
after work yesterday I skipped my evening Wonking to go skate in the lovely golden hours, but now hear this, everywonk:
yesterday having been the second day of fall semester classes at the University of Texas at Austin, as of today I am
SOBER TEN YEARS AND A DAY
I am PROUD of you and I LOVE you, my dear friend!!!

Congratulations!
I am giving you a standing ovation!
Don't let Trump make you fall off the wagon!

I celebrated in the Afternoon, things got hairy. Sal bit the big moose.
Due to feline influence, the dog days of summer have been reduced to a single day.

It's fucking, sorry f*cking, brilliant.
This is Wonkette. You're allowed to say fuck. And fucking. And fucked. And fuckers. And so on and so fucking forth.
Fuckin' A.

Extreme police and ambulance presence in Englewood, IL starting at 0500.
Poor quality 48 second video here:

Maybe practice, maybe ICE raid imminent. No helicopters until just now.
Cynical me thinks it's an active shooter, but then again hopefully they wouldn't keep that sort of thing under their hats.
The infamous "Chicago Crime Cleanup"? If so, today will be "interesting" ...
Maybe it's Geraldo filimng "Al Capone's Vault Part 2"?
Dunno people are freaking out and it's a disgusting show of force.
They woke up an entire local neighborhood on purpose.
Musk has such bad taste, the theme for the 'city" he's building in Texas will be "We Built This City (On Rock and Roll)" by Starship.
Of course, because he can not but steal from others.
I nominate The Pretenders:

For labor. Back on the Chain Gang is also appropriate.
Nah. *We Built This City" is worse.
I expected no less.

Was the planned explosion only mentioned after the explosion?

SMEK. The craft neared the water, jebus.
As e̶x̶p̶e̶c̶t̶e̶d̶ ̶𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘥, it toppled over and exploded...
The expectation was always an explosion, the news is that it was on time.
If you always include "then explode" in your mission parameters, the mission will always be a success.
Isn't rocket propulsion really just an explosion anyway?
A constant, controlled explosion, but still an explosion.
Just like firearms are controlled explosions happening six inches away from the shooter's face.
And with both of them, when things go wrong, they go very wrong.
I'm sure future astronauts will be thrilled with that.
Yeah, the 1000+ people per week he's going to have to haul to Mars (if he started today) to reach his "prediction" of 1 million by 2040.
He should have planned one for the Fourth of July.

Google search, even without AI, has become useless. AI makes it worse.
Is this true? I’m dumb tech but not that dumb old old school like verify sources… help me out with this
My dad doesn't even trust Google. It's kind of incredible how much damage they've done to their brand in the past year.
