Maybe his dad abandoned him when he was young, and ever since that day, poor Dan has lived with the hope that one day, dad would appear at the door, and every time the Fed Ex guy or somebody knocks on his door, Dan gets the same rush of excitement, thinking “Maybe that’s him! Maybe my dad has finally returned to my life,” but it never is, and Dan has to content himself, once again, with waiting and hoping. YOU EVER THINK OF THAT?
At some point, maybe not this week, or this year, or even this decade, but rest assured, there will be a point in the future where their all-consuming hatred of science, the truth, reality itself, will come back to haunt them. I just hope I'm around to see it.
