That's the stupidest thing about all of this - Realtors don't care who they sell the house to, and sellers don't care who buys their house, as long as the check is good.

I realize this is a discussion about buying a home so I am kinda off topic by mentioning what happened to my wife and me when we experienced discrimination while trying to rent a house in Orange County. But I am telling it anyway!
The owners of the home (Chinese nationals with the ability to pay for the recent purchase of their two million dollar plus home in cash) had no issue with us wanting the interior of the house repainted, some minor repairs done nor with my wife's nearly perfect credit (we are also homeowners in a different state.) But when their agent asked for a photocopy of my wife's driver's license before we actually signed the lease, which our rental agent thought odd but because the negotiation had been going well he uncharacteristically agreed to give it to them, things started getting a little twisted.
Suddenly they reneged on letting us have the house painted ("Oh," said their agent, "that was why the wife wanted to buy the house in the first place, she fell in love with the paint job." Oh really? Then why 48 hours before did you agree to let us paint over that beloved hideous paint job if you loved it so?) Then things got truly twisted as they backed away from one previous agreement after the other.
Now mind you, we had less than two weeks before we had to move out and had already returned home to finish packing thinking this was our new home when shit started going sideways. Fortunately, we had a back-up house whose owner was more than happy to rent to us and didn't need to see my wife's driver's license. Fuckers.
One detail: we are a mixed couple - I'm white and my wife is black. It was a pretty rude "welcome" to Orange County needless to say. So that kind of shit still happens maybe more so with renters especially in Orange County where the housing pressures are unreal.
Oh and Dana "Russian Stooge" ShitBacker is a Supreme Asshole whom I can't wait to see primaried back under the rock he originally crawled out from under. The "30 years is enough" protest signs about ShitBacker that have been put up all over the district never fail to elicit a hearty chuckle. Bye Felicia!
Seems to us that the 'rights' of Christians, regarding lifestyles, end with the choice of which they'll enjoy, not denying those of other persuasions their own rights...or, so was once the beauty of America...

I grew up in a house with an advocado colored bathroom and a tv that had a wooden frame. The lounge carpet was so shaggy and brown that our tortoiseshell cat sort of blended into it. I was born in 1980 but looking back it was decorated like a set from the 70's show.
I had a friend who was brought up by Rapture-believing fundamentalists. One day she got home from school and the door was open but no one was home. Since they'd been telling her since she could talk that she was too evil to be raptured, she thought the Rapture had happened and she'd been left. She almost killed herself. Those people are fucking evil.
Most areas in California lean left, as shown by the fact that we have no Repubs in statewide office. But the rural areas are very different. They are more isolated and tend to resist anything new. I hope November is the chance to start changing that.
Repubs are not good for rural interests. I wish the people in those areas would realize that.
Most of the Repubs in California are nightmares. Rohrbacher and Devin Nunes are two glaringly obvious cases in point. Time to rectify this in November, as you say.
