Yeah, this is why you can't know with certainty what the numbers are for a new disease while it is progressing. Science is hard, yo.

no cop is ever expected to apologize for anything until the heat death of the universe.

But even to suggest defunding the motherfuckers is a crime against humanity.

Password123, they are extra cautious in Florida! Cap and a number, they are considering the use of special characters, but it is being protested as sissy!

It took a dozen agents to carry out this raid? For a woman accused of hacking a database? With two children at home? Most frightening: the agents who drew weapons on the children of a woman accused of, uh, hacking a database. The SWAT team must have been busy elsewhere.

The Republicans have gotten all lazy and messy about spurring their lynch mobs (both online and actual) into action at the faintest whiff of dissent or criticism.

All across the country, public health and election officials are dealing with death threats, some quite serious, because Bannon or Tucker or Donald or some Zuckerberg group on Facebook has targeted them for (as the late, unmourned Andrew Breitbart might have put it) Big Hate.

I commented yesterday on the WaPo article about this. I try to tone down the snark there:

Ms. Jones was reportedly fired from her job as a DoH scientist, for her refusal of orders to manipulate data in a way that would make the pandemic in Florida appear less severe than it actually is. What we're not told, but can fairly surmise, is that her replacement would be willing to manipulate the data as ordered. This effectively casts doubt upon the veracity of the information shown at the Florida Department of Health COVID-19 Data and Surveillance Dashboard. Indeed, as I write this on December 21, the Florida DoH Dashboard shows 7.89% positivity in Covid testing for the previous day. Compare that to the information from the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center, which shows 8.7% positivity in Florida for the same day, and an average of 9.7% for the past week, with a high of 10.8% on 12/15, and a low of 8.2% on 12/7. Not 7.89% Nowhere do we see any numbers corroborative of the Florida DoH Dashboard figures. In every single case, the official Florida numbers are lower than the Johns Hopkins numbers. As a result, I'm now inclined to dismiss the data from the Florida DoH Dashboard entirely, writing it off as just another source of disinformation. Way to burn what little credibility you may have had, Ron.

I'm not dunking on her. However she managed her love life isn't my concern. Love can make even smart people act goofy. I really hope she eats DeSantis' lunch. I just have a thing for dorky chicks. I mean, she has a doctorate in geography for crissake! That is as dorky as you can get! /Swoonshttps://uploads.disquscdn.c...

There have been questions on the accuracy of the Florida reports since spring. They have been screening death certificates, delaying posting of death figures, and for some reason, claiming a big increase in deaths due to pneumonia, not Covid.

Knowing this is Florida, the lack of a second story may not prevent defenestration, just reduce the injuries it would cause.
