Please remember the Democrats where very happy to have these Southern Democrat rednecks in their Coalition from the Civil War to the Civil Rights movement !Neoconservative hero Wilson resegregated the Federal Government ,FDR vetoed a Federal Anti Lynching Law ,and it was not until 1948 that the Democrats had a Civil Rights stake in their national platform .The Republican always did .George Wallace kept the South artificially Democrat after 64.Goldwater attracted the deep Dixiecrats. It was not until the passing of older people, and the rise of the Evangelical crazies ,that the South totally realigned ,and remade the GOP into a total trash heap ,of nuts.
