This is a most perilous game of chicken. Let me be clear: President Biden should not negotiate a debt ceiling increase. My worry is that Qevin very obviously has zero influence over his caucus, among whom are members I fear would gladly cheer on default because they want to revel in their power to destroy. We’re gonna need some less-than-insane thugs to defect, and they know they’ll receive backlash for that.
