Gosh, seems like it's been forever since we've done one of these! Thanks, Rebecca, for keeping up with the genius auditions while we were on "vacation" last week. And let's see what's squirming around on the underside of the comment queue today... First up, our story on Martin Bashir's
I really don't have any problem with what the shaman is planning to do. What's the harm? As Dok pointed out, we're all basically on the same page here. I am not a believer, but even so I choose to view and accept this as a symbolic act of protest. It can be seen as a response that is commensurate to the Bishop's symbolic action. Meet metaphysical invocation with metaphysical counterinvocation, basically.
I happen to be friends with another American shaman. (His shamanistic practice is purely coincidental to our friendship.) From what I can tell, North American shamans concentrate on healing and counteracting negative or evil influences of a metaphysical, spiritual nature. Their approach is positive and non-violent. They do not promote or participate in acts of warfare or retribution and they do not advocate any deed or process that is intended to cause harm, from what I have seen. Many also engage in concrete activities in the observable world (i.e., what you and I regard as real) to promote peace and harmony, including working to counteract bigotry, social injustice and poverty. All in all, they aren't bad people to have on your side.

lol, i was about to ask if you had heard about it. I was curious where it was and started Googling, but couldn't find anything other than this guy spamming related comment threads. I'm guessing there are about as many people in his little club as there are new black panthers

There's also a Medina just outside of Seattle. Maybe Bill Gates lives there?
Where the fuck is Neilist? I miss him.
Dude could write well, no question. He kinda lost it with the Gabby Giffords shooting.
Hey, it's not easy working Cole Porter and Hedley Lamarr into a wonket comment, especially given that wonket doesn't allow comments
Well, Missouri has Cabool, which says a lot about geography and spelling instruction in Missouri.
The Teletubbies?
And the other posts DO?
Is that the one where you pay a hooker to beat you up?

it's so nice when they notice
he probably still believes in stoning women. But it has no place in TV news in a civilized society.
No, actually that would be a toss-up between Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limpballs.
...is Bashir in the same terrorist cell as Obama and Timothy Mcviegh?!?!
Which state will go Islamic first? I say Illinois, which already has a Cairo.
