While checking out this vintage comment thread, how come some (most) of the names are greyed out, including names I recognize as current non-commenters? Just curious, if anyone reads this on this ancient thread.

You have the right to free speech. You can speak, you can say anything you want (with the exception of stuff like yelling "fire!" in a crowded theatre), as loud as you want, anytime you want.
What you don't have the right to is no consequences for what you say.
Honestly, if the general population, the majority who don't hold their views, wanted to silence them, they would have been properly silenced a long time ago. What bothers them most is we just don't care what they think and we won't let them have their own way.
