As you may have heard, there was an election this week, and The People Have Spoken. Or at least The People who bothered to vote have spoken, and they are the ones what matter. Not surprisingly, the results of the election have sent ripples into the fetid
For a party whose policies alienate more than 50% of the electorate, it's an effective strategy. It is likely to be their strategy forever and we had better figure out more aggressive ways to respond to it.
My guess is he will cave on all the social issues that Wall Street doesn't care about: abortion, prayer in schools, Medicaid expansion, states' rights. And the Teapers will be taken out to the woodshed and told to STFU on anything having to do with banking - including Obamacare, which the insurance industry likes.
McConnell isn't exactly the Master of the Senate, but it won't be that hard for the two branches of the GOP to divvy up their areas of interest. And they share a lot of perspectives: climate change denial and starting wars being two examples.
I think the net result will be that the mainstream GOP (if it can be called that) will continue to be pulled further to the right, a result that will either wreck their chances in 2016 or put us on the road to fascist dictatorship. Or, youknow, both.
"Lotta sour grapes from the losers whose incompetent President was fired by the American people on Tuesday. In a country with a parliamentary system of government we would be heading toward new élections after this enormous vote of no-confidence. As for Joni Ernst she ran the best campaign of all and deserves her seat in the Senate. She gets her state, its values, and the really important issues of the day. As long as she keeps her eyes fixed on the ball, she’ll be a fine Senator."
Is Sarah Palin trolling the Wonkette incognito?!? This tastes a little like her special brand of word salad.
Wow! The deleted comments queue is really a stinking, fetid cauldron sometimes. This week is right out of Macbeth (That's right, I said it. "The Scottish Play" my ass). We have our three witches, collioure1, petercapaldifangirl, Swifter and the rancid stew that they are stirring.
collioure1, The Black Witch speaks: Bubble, bubble toil and trouble, If Ersnt has won her brain be double. A bag of douche she might 'ere wise be, But now she shall lead for she thinks like me.
petercapaldifangirl, the Red Witch Speaks: In the land of wheat so high, So are the children, I swear I know why. Their mothers put poison deep in their ear, To partake of the Welfare year after year.
Swifter, The Bat-shit crazy witch speaks: I send you an image of grave war and death, To hearten your fear - and yeah I'm on Meth. Death and carnage, oh fools, you should run, It might have been better if the battle'd we won.
Rebels are the true Patriots. I think Orwell wrote that.
Damned Viagra. Someone pass me the asslube.
To tell the truth, I was not ever a big TO fan, but I loved this.
It also doesn't mention Sarah Palin, so absolutely not trolling from her.
I plan to be.
Sarahâs anonymous social media ghost writer.

I wonder if the whole parliament part would have been brought up by the lovely collioure1. Also, there wouldn't be a senate anyway.

Yep, I do love the deleted comments queue.
True, but I'm backstage in my mind at all times.
David Irving?
1/6 of the electorate have spoken. Too bad it was the dumbest 1/6.
When does the ímpeachment start?
To stretch the sports analogy a little further - you know what happens to guys who taunt a little too much when they spike the football?
