Hillary Clinton used that strategy - her "listening tour" - for her first Senate run in 2000. Worked like a charm. She even got write-in votes for President in my largely Republican NY district back in 2008.

And PA's Lt. Governor John Fetterman is using the same methods for his Senate run this year. There are Democrats out there - you just gotta look for 'em!
