Basically, a big drug company bought a smaller drug company that produces this drug that there's really not a whole lot of call for anymore, but it can be used both to treat and prevent malaria, as well as a treatment for toxoplasmosis in people with compromised immune systems (infants, HIV+, etc.). When the smaller company produced this drug, it cost $13.50 a pill. Now it costs $750/pill. Why? Because money.No one should be forced to choose between bankruptcy and life.
