Unfortunately, it's the "literate" part that's shrinking.

Bea Fuddled just signed the RNC Birthday Card to Ronald Reagan.

It just seemed the right thing to do.

This dipshit is still around ? Why hasn't his god become so embarassed by him that it dropped a Gay Pride parade float on the fool ? Kali would have disemboweled him a long time ago.

The strategy:

1) Find a term most people have maybe heard, but don't really know 2) Make up your own definition. Call it an "interpretation" rather than a lie. 3) Shout your lies/interpretations at the top of your lungs. 4) Repeat endlessly, or until you are involved some inevitable compromising situation regarding the very subject you are shouting about.

You know who else did that?

Common Core seems to have some less than totally delightful aspects, but the part that sets the wingnuts off is that it includes certain sort of obvious facts, like the age of the Earth being 4+ billion years, and evolution being the central organizing principle of all biology.

Last time I was in SLC, I put my OWN name in the guest book. I had already met a bunch of "elders" through my ex-wife, who turned LDS after we separated. I liked talking to the young men, because (1) I had actually read the OT and NT and the main Mormon texts (the BoM, D&Cs, and the Pearl); (2) they, on the other hand, were earnest and generally very pleasant kids who had only had summaries described to them. Shooting fish in a dialectical barrel.

I've never heard from them since.

I think you're talking about connotation, which would have been different in 1979.
