They will find a way to trip over their dicks. They must make it about what will benefit the people short term and long term. Keep it very short and simple.

If we get the house and senate we can block his tax cuts and wars which are both bankrupting the country and not helping a majority of the people.

Chickens, eggs, hatched. We have a long way to go to get control of anything. No time to let up on the pressure.

Evan, look at that chart. My students would get an F if they built that chart with those age groupings. The first group has 4 years. Second has 6 years, (WTF?). The third is back to 4 years, but then the fourth is 9 years!! Then the Gen X one is 19 years and the last is Everyone over 65! Not to say that Gen X doesn't have Reagan Nostalgia issues (and those of us of a certain age remember the Reagan cultists in our midst) but this chart is BS and getting way too much coverage.

I have never been counted among the Gen X folks and I'm not about to start with this chart.

Ta, Evan. Let's all show That Thing in the Offal Office what a landslide election looks like. #BlueTsunami

You want to see movement away from the GOP? Wait'll Christmastime when all those GenZ guys get their Selective Service Automatic Registration notices.

Stranger Than Friction's avatar

Word must get out about the SSA automatic registrations no later than October. Surprise!

Unless the Dems embrace more populist notions (just go to BernieSanders.com if you don't know what I'm talking about), their win will be short-lived. 2026 is the stopgap. 2028 is the crucial election.

"One weird anomaly Newsweek noted is that Democrats actually lost a slight bit of ground among 18-22 men, but also that the “I hate Trump” numbers in that group rose. "

The explanation for this is: *in general*, Gen Z are the most Left-wing cohort in society. But the minority who are not are actual Nazis.

Daniel O'Riordan's avatar

those actual Nazis are going to be getting notices from their Nazi government informing them that they have been automatically registered in the Selective Service, and Trump foreign policy needs a lot of warm bodies to throw at the process.

They may be the most left-wing cohort but they don't reliably vote.

Gen X was heavily sold Ronald Reagan's GOP dream and we bought in, expected after the rather weak appearing Jimmy Carter.

Then, along came Fox News and many just completely bought in or stopped paying attention and kept voting for the "team" and not Democracy. The rest from our generation that were Republicans have left the GOP long in the rearview mirror.

My 2026 anti-R campaign slogan: "Trillions for War, Zero for Us - That's the Republican Way!"

How's he doing with Latinos / Hispanics? I recall they leaned towards him last time, because, as it was surmised, they like a "strongman". But now, what with all the ICE evil, they might well be swinging the other direction.

The ICE evil, and attacking the Pope.

If the rapist does anything to fuck up the World Cup, his approval rating among Latino men will be 0.002%.

Anzu's avatar

Big tank in polling. Getting into a tit-for-tat with the Pope probably won't help those numbers either.

If they keep taking AIPAC money, they won't even win the Congress.

I’d ask “What the fuck Gen X?” However, I then realize that not all of us were flannel-clad Rage Against the Machine enthusiasts. (I certainly wasn’t.) My generation was raised on Reaganomics and 80s action movies. It’s no wonder we ended up aligning with that shitstain.

plenty of Gen X pubs kissed boomer ass to have political careers.

Yeah fuck GenX...hey waitaminute...I'm GenX!

Gen X here, and yelling loudly at my cohort. But I'd also guess that even in this group, supporting Trump skews heavily male. In other words, because I have the misfortune of being basically straight, my fucking dating pool.

Thankfully, I live in a very progressive city, have an awesome geriatric (hahaha I tease) millennial boyfriend, made my political views very clear in my bio when I was on the apps, and would be perfectly content to sit at home with my cat and wine and books if Trump supporters were the only option.
