My 2026 anti-R campaign slogan: "Trillions for War, Zero for Us - That's the Republican Way!"

How's he doing with Latinos / Hispanics? I recall they leaned towards him last time, because, as it was surmised, they like a "strongman". But now, what with all the ICE evil, they might well be swinging the other direction.

The ICE evil, and attacking the Pope.

If the rapist does anything to fuck up the World Cup, his approval rating among Latino men will be 0.002%.

Big tank in polling. Getting into a tit-for-tat with the Pope probably won't help those numbers either.

If they keep taking AIPAC money, they won't even win the Congress.

I’d ask “What the fuck Gen X?” However, I then realize that not all of us were flannel-clad Rage Against the Machine enthusiasts. (I certainly wasn’t.) My generation was raised on Reaganomics and 80s action movies. It’s no wonder we ended up aligning with that shitstain.

plenty of Gen X pubs kissed boomer ass to have political careers.

Yeah fuck GenX...hey waitaminute...I'm GenX!

Gen X here, and yelling loudly at my cohort. But I'd also guess that even in this group, supporting Trump skews heavily male. In other words, because I have the misfortune of being basically straight, my fucking dating pool.

Thankfully, I live in a very progressive city, have an awesome geriatric (hahaha I tease) millennial boyfriend, made my political views very clear in my bio when I was on the apps, and would be perfectly content to sit at home with my cat and wine and books if Trump supporters were the only option.

Democrats are renowned for snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory!

Personally, i believe they are paid to be losers!

Speaking of which, if you haven't seen "Conclave" yet, it's awesome.

The Democrats need to run the most vicious, anti-corruption campaign in history, emphasize the need to close tax loop-holes, and tax billionaires in order to lower the deficit. Drive these issues home whenever any opportunity presents itself. Then hope that the complacent and lazy non-voters come out in mass where they can make a big difference in this next election cycle.

So nothing about punishing war crimes or other crimes or ending genocide? What a low bar.

Henry30's avatar

We don't want to overload things too soon as far too many voters are only concerned with one or two issues.

agreed. I saw an early forecast of the most popular options for 2028 and it was lead by moderate white men like Newsom. In other words, safe choices. I think this is the wrong approach and that Biden demonstrated that by not prosecuting Trump for literally trying overthrow democracy when he could.

Boomers, even. You (cough, cough) go, us!

I've been trying to understand the appeal of the Gropenfuhrer to my (our) GenX brethren and the only conclusion that I can draw derives from the backlash to the second wave of feminism (Backlash, by Faludi being the best primer on the topic); the backlash to the politically correct movement; a strange pride in the combination of iconoclasm and whatever-ism in certain male cohorts, and the Gulf and Iraq and Afghanistan debacles that killed and/or destroyed so many of us. The global "war on terror" turned a generation of our guys (and some of our women) into a group that trusts neither party. Tragically, many of them have built their entire personas on the dubious membership of "Asteroid for 20-fill in the blank election year" and DT is the asteroid.

The other half of GenX- we who have fought and continue to fight for accountability, facts, freedom, LGBT rights and civil rights and mother earth and single-payer health care and one another look on our peers who support MAGA with grief and shame.

And yes, Ossoff is a sexy beast.

CzechJournalists's avatar

so, the important takeaway here is that Gen X are still the youngs. what a relief.

oh shit. maybe not. Pearl Jam posters on Antiques Roadshow:

(sigh) ...yes, we are notorious for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

.....as a blue dot in a sea of red insanity here in the state of Flor-E-Da...I donated to Jon Ossoff's campaign for Senator in Georgia....Ossoff is the exact kind of democrat that's needed to take back the Senate...I wish we in this backwater state I live in had more just like him....

....2028....this is the guy needed....

Jesus, Evan! Do I have to remind even you?? Ohio delivered Barack Hussein Obama to the White House BOTH TIMES. We voted to protect abortion rights and un-gerrymander-fuck in highly rat-fucked special referenda a couple of years ago.

"As goes Ohio" like before that, Maine, as in Purple, a lot of it's history. It's never been fucking Alabama, FFS.

A lot of people have short memories. It still blows my mind to think that Obama won Florida twice. Florida!

Pleased to see that the over 65s, MY PEOPLE, despise Trump almost as much as I do. (I want to be careful to say I don't hate Trump. He's not important enough to me. Contempt is a better word.)

Old folks vote!

72 here. Proud to say that I voted against Trump 3 times.
