Let's see. The Feds sent 3,000 paramilitary goons into Minnesota. Add their salaries, plus support staff, fuel, lodging, food, legal costs, decimation of the U.S. Attorney's office for Minnesota, and the deaths and injuries of many innocent people along with terrifying school children and making most Minnesotans feel like they are in a fascist dystopia the final cost was, what? $50-million at least?
And for that they claim to have detained 4,000 people. Now, based upon how this has gone so far, that number is probably inflated by a factor of at least five (remember all those billions of DOGE cuts that ended up being almost nothing?), and of course they refuse to provide any evidence (I mean, its MAGA, facts are not allowed), but let's say they actually did that number. Now, of course we know that includes five-year-olds and people who showed up at immigration hearings like they were told, so at best, maybe 100 were the "worse of the worse" (and I am being generous there . . . I would guess to get to 100 we are including DUIs and bad checks), that works out to, what? $50,000 per immigrant just to detain them. Add in the legal cases and the cost of actually holding people, that number probably is closer to $100,000 per detainee. And that is being generous. Given how the proven rapist Trump handles money and drives everything into bankruptcy, I wouldn't be surprise if that number is also off by several factors.
And for all that money that could have easily funded a number of beneficial programs or, heck, a ton of USAID, we got what? Does anyone in Minnesota claim they are now safer? Any claim that their lives are better? Heck, even Stephen Miller probably has the sads realizing that fascism is so much harder than the Germans and Italians made it look.
Operation Metro Surge, a federal immigration enforcement action in Minnesota, is estimated to cost taxpayers at least $18 million per week in direct expenses, according to a report from North Star Policy Action. These weekly costs include $8.9 million for personnel, $4.5 million for lodging/meals, and $1.6 million for detention.
So, that puts total cost since the start in December at at least $200-million for the operation itself, not including the other costs (and an estimated lost income to Minnesota of $200-million more.
That puts the cost at $50,000 per claimed detainee, most of which were just the easy to grab kind and not the "worse of the worse."
The good news is that at this rate, there is a pretty good chance that all the money in the Blowjobs for Billionaires bill will be gone in another couple of months.
A lot of focus has been on the Twin Cities but the burbs are also taking a hit. I've seen way more out of state license plates than normal and yesterday I saw a truck rigged up for some major coal rolling. In all of my years living in MN I have never seen a truck so tricked out (in other states, yes, here no). The goons are still doing lots of surveillance and intimidating at apartment complexes including one less than a mile from Molesworth Jr's school.
so how is this supposed to work? they turn up where they are not wanted - hurt and even kill a bunch of people, then go somewhere else and do it again, getting more violent and reckless each time? how is this supposed to make people vote for them? cos they're taking action? the majority of the country is calling them fascists and their supporters fascists, which they are all whining about, so they know they're not popular/on the right side of history... its stupid how doubling down on stupid shit is their only platform
They should slither back to the border states that they typically haunt. The private prison industry needs to find occupants elsewhere, like convicted pedo rings and accomplices.
A victory won't be won merely by ICE slinking away from MN while continuing to slander innocent victims of its pogroms as "criminals" and "terrorists".
Assuming those words still have meaning -- which they must, in order for Mad King Donald to justify what would otherwise be crimes against his citizenry -- then knowingly and falsely wielding them against those who have been brutalized by ICE is slander. Add that to personal injury and harm to property, and there are multiple grounds for civil actions to be brought against this administration and its goons.
Those civil complaints should be filed early and often. It's an unfortunate fact that taxpayers will foot the bill for what should turn out to be sizeable damage awards, but perhaps the public will realize that this is yet another unsustainable cost of Miller/Trump/MAGA running amok. And no matter what, the fascists can never be allowed to forget that accountability is real and will find them, masks or no.
No arrests by state or local cops. And I haven't read anything about plans to respond to the next round of federal terror, which will surely come. The county prosecutor hasn't even issued arrest warrants for the ICE/CBP murderers.
Plenty of federal lawsuits, that's good. They've had only marginal effect on federal lawlessness, though.
Cops are going to be cops. But have the people in charge even tried to get them to intervene? Cops will follow orders, somewhat. And if they don't they can be sidelined.
Blue state targets of federal terror will be crushed if the states do not turn their police into a force of resistance. They need to try the same with their NG, although that's trickier. They can also raise state militias completely under their control, some already have these.
While Minneapolis citizens fought this round to a stalemate, in future rounds there will be more feds, more arrests of protesters and politicians, federalization of the NG, deployment of red state NGs, probably escalation like preemptive arrests of activists, curfews, weaponization of the IRS, mass federal prosecutions with ruinous fines, seizure of protesters assets.
The time to organize for that is now. And part of that is having a force capable of arresting federal terrorists.

You grow more tired, but its unnoticed because hope is again flowing through your body. The snow gets brighter and the digging gets faster. Everything is clear and time slows down for a second as you soak in one of the greatest moments of your life...Then you see the teeth.”

“Trust but verify” is doing a lot of work here, because this administration lies like it’s salaried.
ICE saying they’re leaving is not evidence. Fewer raids on the ground is evidence.
Until then, this is just a press release with boots still on necks.
Blessed be the neighbors watching, not the czars talking.
ICE disbands.
There go the jobs numbers.
Ta, Dok. Resist!
Holy fuckballs look at that Prius! Seems like attempted vehicular homicide not an apprehension (kidnapping)!
Bernie Moreno asking Ellison about his association from Farrakhan in 1984?!
Jeebus. In ‘84 you could give me two Godmothers and I’d dance on a table top less.
Like you ask us to do GOP. He apologized and moved on. Get a better burn book buddy.
The '80s were awesome!

To be fair, some of that trickles down to wrecking yards and whatnot.
I was off and way too generous:

Today's message to Fetterman:
"You're a fucking dick John. So sad I supported you.
You should resign the Senate.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, you dick."

LOL. They were still kidnapping people today and a DHS plane flew into the airport in Eden Prairie.
Edit: it was a CBP plane that flew into Eden Prairie. Different uniform, same thugs.

I think they're trying to provoke a situation where Trump can invoke the insurrection act
"The beatings shall continue until morale improves"
They're waiting for that moment when a city greets them like liberators because they dumb.
they gon’ be waitin’ a loooooooooooooong time

Absolutely not! At least the rest of the county now sees what horrors ICE, in all its past and present iterations, regularly commits.
i refer to mereno and husted as my invisible senators, and i wish they'd stay that way.

It's almost like cops are scared to mix it up with people who might shoot back
Naahh, that can't be it

Local cops are keeping open a future career option.

CAN THE BRAIN RECOGNIZE DAMAGE TO THE BRAIN?
RFK Jr. says not scared of germs because he 'used to snort cocaine off of toilet seats'
Well, maybe he ran short of stripper cheeks
The brain can't recognize that it's being eaten by a worm.
Didn’t everyone? Oh wait, only a privileged few?
If that be privilege I can do without it.
A friend was having some cognitive issues and went to his doctor. At one point in the office visit, he said, “I’m afraid that I have Alzheimer’s.”
His doctor said, “Well, it’s not Alzheimer’s. If you’re afraid you have it, you ain’t got it.”
An MRI confirmed he had a couple of “mini strokes”.
It depends on the damage. There are damages that the brain can't recognize because the very recognition of damage would require the damaged part to function.
Huh?
Bingo!
Read up on the patients who can only draw half of a clock face.
Wait, he admits germs exist?
If no one says "Bless you" when you sneeze, a demon will jump down your throat.
I thought it was miasma that caused illness, that and humours?
and witches.
"blood, yellow bile, black bile, and phlegm" is all anyone needs to know.
I’ll repeat the question: “Can the brain…?”
Studying RFK Jr. won't help answer any brain related question
