I love the way Trump tells us that this won't just lower diesel prices here, but "around the world," as though, if they hadn't sold it to us, they were going to use all those barrels as paper weights.
It appears that Iran is getting diesel through to Russia.
So the US is purchasing oil (indirectly) from Iran which is bombing the tankers in the strait which is increasing the price of diesel which is why PAB is purchasing diesel from Russia.
This article falls into the trap of Big Oil in North America. By trying to "reverse engineer" the potential drop in fuel prices, you tacitly cede the argument that the price has already gone up by the "correct" amount.
This could not be farther from the truth.
Most of that price hike is profit being baked in by all the players in the supply chain.
You ever notice how when "something" happens in the Oil and Gas universe that can be argued as restricting the supply side of the argument, the pump price goes up the next day. Refinery in Houston has electrical fire? Price hike at every station the next day. OPEC releases price statement suggesting they won't relaxed supply quotas on member nations? Price hike everywhere in North America next day. Ukraine drones hit a Russian refinery? Boom, price hike in North American the next day.
Those are profit grabs. The supply takes weeks to be impacted by one of those events. Yes, Brent Crude price would go up the next day, because that IS speculation. But pump prices? Nope - that gas in the underground tank has been sitting there for weeks. So it's price has not been impacted one iota by that outside event.
You will also note that any event we - the gas and oil buying public - would see as a positive like the Saudi's thumbing their nose at OPEC and saying we'll sell as much as we want this month so eff off. Or America getting in to the position where they produce a net surplus ... yeah, all you hear then (if the media even bothers to ask) is that "it takes time for the supply to move through the supply chain, but eventually that lower priced stock will reach the pumps and save consumers money". Only, it never does. Because the media, and therefore the news consuming public, have the attention spans of fleas and we'll forget what that empty suit promised would happen "in two weeks".
The Iran war has been a godsend for Big Oil. It gives them the cover they need to hike prices through the roof, without impacting the supply THEY ARE ACTUALLY USING to generate what they sell.
Also partially explains why they've been hesitant to jump back in to Venezuela. Yes, the danger, the threat of getting nationalized all over again, the timeline of repairing infrastructure so they can actually take advantage of it are all factors. But a sudden introduction of excess supply should provide downward pressure on the price at the pump. Even the dumbest reporter knows that. And that might lead to questions about why - if the supply is rising, the price is also rising supposedly due to factors that are outside the immediate supply chain that impacts them.
“This is to be followed, allegedly, by another 500,000 tons in November and one million tons “immediately thereafter,” presumably just in case Santa is switching from reindeer to a diesel-powered sleigh for Christmas. Then there will be another three million tons “within a short period of time,””
I don’t know about the first 300,000 but 50 bucks and my right nut says none of these additional deliveries are coming or were even agreed to. He just thinks it will drive down the futures markets. Funny how they can’t be delivered until after the midterms. Just like the 5000 dollars every will get.
“Watch what they do, not what they say—or promise.”
Under Putin, Russia has repeatedly overridden foreign business ownership through government pressure, asset seizures, and forced sales:
* Shell, 2006: Pressured into surrendering control of the Sakhalin-2 energy project to state-controlled Gazprom.
* Fortum, 2023: Stripped of control over its Russian power operations by presidential decree.
* Carlsberg, 2023–24: Lost control of Baltika breweries through “temporary management,” then exited through a different, government-approved sale.
* Danone, 2023–24: Russian operations seized, placed under politically connected management, and subsequently sold.
Not every foreign partnership meets this fate. But the demonstrated lesson is clear: contracts and promises offer limited protection when the Kremlin decides it wants control. Calling a takeover “temporary management” does not preserve the foreign owner’s ability to run the business.
Fun fact: Russia is desperately short on diesel fuel. They don’t have enough diesel to power their military, or their economy, for that matter. For that reason, they have banned diesel exports. So, by Russian as well as American standards, the deal is illegal. They are really cranking up the bullshit machine here.
Does it, WSJ? Does the 'world' really miss Lindsey? Granted, now we are stuck with the bargain basement Graham, but it's still a long way fronlm there to 'missing him.'

It's fucking stupid all the way down.
All by design.
Smart ass knows exactly what he's doing...
Don't for minute think he doesn't either

The first tanker of Russian diesel from this week's deal is scheduled to arrive before the Midterms. "How is this possible?" you asked.
It left Greece on September 22.
Art of the Deal!
You know who measures fuel by weight, like tons? Russia. We use barrels. He's just parroting what putin told him.
He is on Russia’s side. He did not sell out. He did what Putin put him in power to do.

You are not wrong.
Just asking but who helps Dondon get his head out of his ass every morning?
Just one of Natalie's many services.
She Delivers!

THAT must be the case...
ART OF THE DEAL!
I wonder if this is his October surprise?
Sells his Putin c@ck gobbling skills for $.01.
Tea bagging for just another $.0005!
Why won’t any reporter ask Pedo47 why he’s making illegal trade deals with a country that is helping Iran kill American soldiers?

per ChatGPT.
Yeah. Russia can't be trusted to keep its word on signed deals ... just like America now.
Yup!

LOLed at that one.
