But, but, what if you have a black friend?

You should. It's based on the Lucifer character from Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics. Lucifer basically got bored and abandoned his throne in hell, made a lateral move to owning a nightclub in LA, and becomes a consultant for the LAPD.

But - but - then we'd have to actually fix things if we wrong somebody! It's a lot easier to just tell your invisible friend that you feel bad about it, then everything is hunky-dory. It's a lot easier, let me tell ya.

Webb surely knew how racist Wright is, but at least he had the good sense to convince him to GTFO.

What does Q think? They (gender free pronoun or is that too Deep State?) are, of course The Arbiter.

The first time I was called a black-person-lover, I was 14. That was in 1964. The most recent time was almost 20 years ago when I was carrying my black grandson out of a McDonalds. He was about 4 months old and was cranky so I took him out while the rest of my family got their food. Near the door a man muttered "black-person-lover" at me. I stopped and stared at him (he was really startled by that). Then I smiled at him and said, "Why, yes. Yes, I am. Thank you." Then I left. Nobody has said it to my face since.

I've always considered it to be a badge of honor.

These days I'm not sure I would be quite so polite about it. I've gotten a lot more stabby as I've gotten old.

OMG. Wright doesn't just have a Black friend, he has a dead Black friend, and he thinks that makes him special. I guess he doesn't realize that a fuck of a lot of people in this country have dead Black friends.
