Any one who has read Rand knows that she made it very clear that it is only through the rugged individual, standing up to the mob of takers and making sure the government bailed him out that we can hope to have a truly great society.

Not if Biden gets in and Senate gets flipped. And I don't think a vaccine will come that fast anyway, unless a Manhattan Project-size push gets funded.

Keep in mind, from the Objectivist point of view, National Socialism is a "people's state," because obviously no form of government should (or can? I am not completely clear on the reasoning there) own anything, while fascism is a blending of public force and private profit.

A friend of mine whose life's mission is pointing out hypocrisy (and who loves spreadsheets) found the Ayn Rand Foundation in there, and I laughed bitterly for about an hour, thinking of all my friends with actual small businesses who didn't get a penny.

(He also pointed out that the Young Turks got something above $1M -- a figure that seems insane to me, since their entire business model seems to be "white dude talks sanctimoniously at a camera," an activity that has not been interrupted by covid.)

We all love what we love and that is as it should be, but a big time sport where a typical score is 1-0 leaves me bewildered. I thought games were supposed to be about scoring, just like life. I was disappointed when table tennis shortened games to 11 from 21 back in 2002. Changed the whole strategy of the game.Make soccer could goose the scoring by awarding fractional points for shots on goal, great passes or something. Make it more like figure skating with a panel of international judges. Yeah, that's the ticket.
