I truly had a sliver of hope. My mother, a Never Trump conservative, saw the situation more clearly, told me with Patrick at the helm Paxton would be acquitted.

I hate it here. My Disability hearing is in December. If it goes our way, we flee.

Nothing like having the terrorist leader weigh in with some gentle doxing and plausibly deniable threats that could lead to death. Trump is in full-on Faux Taliban mode, and we're still treating him as a politician.

Okay, Ken, you've got this moment of power, and you'd better not fuck it up. The phrase is, "You go after the King, you'd best not miss."

They missed. You don't use your position to clean house, you'll be viewed as weak, and they'll come at you again.

Joe Biden did this to him? The Texas House of Representatives voted to impeach him. Lots of Republicans instigated it. So the REAL culprit is…Joe Biden. Because it always is! Senile, confused political mastermind.

Poor Mrs. Paxton. She chose to marry that scum bag, then wept with joy when her adulterous crimey husband escaped accountability for his corruption. How many horrifying things are in just that one sentence? Family values Republicans and all. And who in the world is having affairs with this creepy slimeball? Sex worker? That’s my only plausible explanation. Because who chooses something like that if they aren’t being paid.

"the most corrupt politician in the state of Texas at this time" - well that says he just knows someone out there is yelling 'hold my beer' - or he's admitting there is no bottom for his party

Dale Phelan is outraged- outraged, I say! - He reacted immediately upon learning that a Republican official did corruption and self-dealing, which was some number of years after the rest of the civilized world concluded Ken Paxton is beyond being a piece of shit. He is the whole turd.

Ta, Evan. I figured he'd get out of it, because white Republican male.

A microcosm of the impeachments against Trump and how they went. For exactly all the same reasons.

The FarQ will see its will be done, come hell or high water and some paltry justice won't stand in its way. Ken Paxton might just start trying to remove his political opponents who impeached him real soon, so let's keep our eyes on that.

Plz, why the outage? By now everybody should realize that politicians come out of Texas like runny diarrhea only with a fouler odor. I can say that I live there

And he returns to office without a stain on his character - except that of having been acquitted by the Texas senate.

Smug asshole exemplifies the new republican standard for corruption pioneered by Trump: it’s okay so long as you do it out in the open where everyone can see it.

And also if you’re a republican.

If there is no justice in the courts, at some point the people will find an alternative system. I'm not advocating it, I'm just saying if you don't want the guillotine, don't act like a French nobleman in the 18th century.

The GOOD news is that this is just IMPEACHMENT 'stuff'...Paxton has broken the law and this doesn't get him out of THAT legal pickle...If we had a functioning justice system he'd be in REAL trouble

Let's hope so. But nothing could be less surprising from the modern Party of Personal Responsibility(tm), The Law and Order Party(tm), aka the IOKIYAR Party. Just ask the most corrupt US president in modern history.

The Trump Party is the party of crime and cruelty. And bullshit, always more bullshit.

The Texas republican House voted overwhelmingly to indict him...What's surprising is that despite both the TX House and Senate being such massive republican majorities that there would be such a DIFFERENT outcome between them...And rather reversed...USUALLY senates (state and federal) tend to have more moderate members and the House is for the loons...But in THIS case it's totally reversed

I suppose what comes next is Paxton's revenge tour where he goes after all the republican house members who voted to impeach him...which again, was by a HUGE margin...

My guess is blackmail...its the only thing that scans

Well, he does have broad investigatory powers, and I think it's already been pointed out he's a tad corrupt.
