Where's the resolution to change the fascist name of "Homeland Security!"

I once again ask what in the world is going on with Randy Fine's face...

The basic concept/need for ICE is still there. The issue is that it's been converted in a bloated goon squad/enforcer for the Felon in Chief. I don't want it eliminated, I want it to be held accountable, professionally, and at pre-bloat personnel levels.

MRK's avatar

Is it? We need judges and advocates to handle asylum claims, and people to process other immigration paperwork. We need people to staff border checkpoints. But every other law enforcement agency can handle any actual crimes committed by immigrants. And remember that entering this country improperly is a misdemeanor, so that really doesn't necessitate an armed response.

Aquaman, Real Estate Investor.'s avatar

Its responsibilities can be taken over by other agencies quite easily.

And frankly, abolishing it sends a very powerful message. A far far stronger one that "reform" which will drag on forever and end with lots and lots of people never getting punished.

Aim high, or you'll never hit anything.

They should be disarmed, and only work administratively. If they exist at all.

If the requirements for body cams and judicial warrants are all it takes to "gut" ICE...

Aquaman, Real Estate Investor.'s avatar

God forbid they have to comply with the Constitution.

Mavenmaven's avatar

Did Trump aides specifically highlight the letters NS in that photo? Either way, there must be NO normalization of ICE, much as there can be no 'National Socialist lite', fascism is not something to "reform".

When Trump was a kid nobody wanted to play with him.

So he played with himself...

If they want to brand us as abolitionists, and them as opposed to that, then I say let them.

How much did Bill O'Liely have to pay out for the sexual harassment suit he lost?????

BlueStateLibel's avatar

Yeah, O'Reilly the same guy that was fired from Fox for sexually harassing subordinates. Such a nice guy and pure as the driven snow.

Ambiance Chaser's avatar

Didn't O'Reilly vote for Putin over Harris ? . . .

Cincinnatus's avatar

You can't explain it.

"You don't get lower than that", says the Republican that managed to slither under every bar, even the ones buried underground

Bill's still alive?!

I'd assumed he'd been found dead in a cheap Bangkok knocking shop years ago.

O'Reilly is a goddamned liar: "And this Ossoff brings her in as someone who should be denigrated and laughed at, and implies there’s something going on here"

Edit because idiot Bills abound

I forget, how much did Fox pay out because of O'Reilly's sex pesting?

Democrats' anti-ICE rhetoric is about to run into a Republican juggernaut, which really exists:

‘Fuck ICE’ is pithy, memorable, sure…

… but it’s possibly partly my not having slept much again yestereve, possibly partly that I do spend a lot of time around the actually frozen water stuff especially in the colder seasons (and sure in all seasons, in a cocktail shaker), possibly a mix of both, but I keep misreading this as a call to have intercourse with it. And this sounds a) like not much fun and b) likely to end in an extremely embarrassing ER visit.

Sounding academic is not the same as sounding focus group tested, and it's the latter that's the problem.

JanuaryClaire's avatar

Oh, for sure, it's the obsession with focus groups, but I liked her point overall.
