I've seen that reasoning. They're always so sure that being undocumented is a giant felony on the order of espionage. That's why I like to blow their minds by pointing out that just being here undocumented is only a civil, not criminal, offense, so, technically, they're NOT criminals. Even unlawful entry without papers is nothing more than a misdemeanor, like public intoxication or disorderly conduct.

The higher learning institution that I attend has a Confucius Institute. It shares an office with the Honors College. Make of that what you will.
