That’s a whole lotta little dick energy.

NRA nitwits love to wax poetic about their love and worship of the Second Amendment. But they always forget three words:“A well-regulated militia”Or is that four words? 🤔Does the hyphen make it one word?

It’s insulting to honest decent sane Americans to try to say that the intent of the Founders was for school massacres to be a weekly occurrence.

Just because today’s GOP is objectively pro-massacre doesn’t mean the Founders were.

Not to be churlish to the disabled, but, if you can fire one of these with your good arm, can’t you fire a regular pistol? If you can’t hold onto one due to the recoil, won’t that brace just hold it to your arm when it kicks loose from your hand, possibly spraying bullets everywhere and knocking the shooter out when the gun smacks him or her in the head?

So why does a disabled person need such a weapon, as opposed to a small, light pistol? Wild boars? Wild bores?

I get nostalgic for the days before guns. A sword, for example, is a fearsome weapon. But you had to put a *lot* of time and effort into learning how to use it properly. Guns, by comparison, are for the lazy.

The late Molly Ivins once said she wasn't anti-gun, she was pro-knife. You can usually outrun a knife. Pro-sword sound even safer.

Where is it going to end? Seriously? What level of gun ownership by anyone will be constrained by legislation in the USA? It has been escalating since 2000, and it was nuts already in 1999. It can't be an absolute right. There aren't absolute rights that conflict with with basic civil liberties like being able to live without fear.

I still intermittently have serious debates with myself about buying a properly sharpened, fully functional Roman gladius for home defense. Good for stabbing and slashing, and only 3ft long or thereabouts so not cumbersome in cramped home spaces.

If it was good enough for the Roman legions for several hundred years, then it should be good enough for me.

Pump shotgun. Best home defense weapon. Pump it to locate the target. Aim for the noise as the intruder panics. Fire with confidence.

Felons with firearms are illegal. Laws can be used to regulate guns. Congress has a duty to regulate guns to provide for the general welfare. They've done it before, they have been shirking their duty. Heller is pure horseshit, just like Dobbs.2a obligates the Congress to provide each Governor (the elected chief executives) with an armed militia. 'People' with a capital P refers to the republic, not the individual. 'Militia' has a specific legal definition. The original authors all knew what a militia entailed. SCOTUS obviously doesn't. The Militia Act of 1903 lays it out. This was obvious to original audiences familiar with the conventions of formal documents. Self-styled 'Originalists' should take a few graduate level courses in American history, with a concentration on the 18th century, before attempting further seances to channel the dead.

Because they ignore the original intent and reasoning. The minuteman and irregular militia of the war had proven to be impossible to control. The notion of everyone armed was antithetical to civilization. 2a guaranteed each governor an armed militia, under command of a regular US military officer and commissioned by the State. Accountability for use of deadly force was assured, the Governor had operational control, everyone was served. No government can survive when law and order is impossible. One goal of civilization is to remove violence from citizens, reserving it for the Government. An armed society is barbarism displacing civil society.
