Prosecution for “communication of false information” is what we desperately need here. The monetizing of misinformation is causing people to drink bleach and snort horse wormer, unqualified and unsuitable people to become elected officials, crooks and liars to victimize people, and hatred to flourish. We are living in the misinformation age of the internet and Republicans are its stewards, blarping about “free speech” as a pretext to spread false information to compete in elections and other venues where they would otherwise not stand a chance.
