That is so. In the UK, the libel laws are barbaric--98% of all libel suits find for the plaintiff. And yes, truthful statements may be found to be defamatory if they make the plaintiff look bad. The difference between the UK and the US is that pesky little First Amendment thang.

He's not going to be bounced out of court by NYS' anti-SLAPP law (and sadly therefore won't be subject to SLAPP-back provisions when he does get bounced out of court for his case being flimsy to point of frivolity) because the statute in question only applies to petitions relating to permitting issues.
